Geforce GTX 780 Ti to end up faster than Titan

With Jen-Hsun saying that the 780Ti is the fastest GPU they have ever made, I think it is fair to say it will be faster than a Titan.

I know it's gonna be faster but my point is amd could over clock the r9 290 to be faster than the r9 290x and call it there fastest chip ever. I think the ti will be spec wise in between the titan and a gtx780 with higher clocks. It will still be nvidia's fastest gpu ever but not there most powerful as we all know that would be titan. the gtx760 ti is faster out of the box than the gtx670 but its not more powerful to people on this forum.

People knock the Titan because it's way out of their budget. Sorry to ruffle feathers but that's the truth. When it came out at the beggining of the year it was an amazingly quick card with tons of VRAM for high resolutions knocking all other single GPU cards out of the park. It's still an amazing card and for people like me who've had them months all these stupid comments about price is like water off a ducks back. GPU's get superseded all the time it's really not all that big a deal.

There's nothing we can do about it, it's an industry driven market with two main competitors. Stop hating and enjoy the tech you have and read about.

I'm with Kaap, from a model perspective I can see the Ti coming inbetween, but will clock high enough to safely make the Titan seem outranked. Which is nothing new as we've seen with the 780 GTX.

Yep, sorry misread what you meant. I can also see them clocking the 780 Ti higher and rumors have it at a few cores less than the Titan.

Now you have gone and done it!!!

Here comes the pitchfork gang :D

You'd be mad to buy them off the shelf now though obviously! :D

But people have been knocking them from day one. "OMG £800!" = Crap, no way can I afford that : S

:D

Titan is an outstanding card, it's all well and good saying the 290X beats it for half the price, but why couldn't AMD have done that 9 months ago? The answer is simple, they simply couldn't do it.

TBH for most people buying the titan price is one of the lesser considerations. I would have bought one if they were cheaper but thats because what they provide is ancillary to my requirements - infact I'm quite happy on a GTX675m clocked to 570 performance right now, if my requirements needed a titan I would have no problems paying the full price.

That's what non Titan owners always say lol.

It's ok I'm only half joking :D. Making a sweeping statement about everyone who comments is a bit out of order but a lot of the flaming that went on nearer the launch was simply because they thought it was priced too high.

Right now though here in October 2013 where we have a 290X which performs on par practically and in some cases better - almost a year later, yes £800 is crackers and it should really come down. Although I feel they'll probably just phase it out. There probably isn't much if any demand left.

Criticizing the price isn't the same thing as hating or moaning because you simply can't afford it.
Anyway, hasn't this conversation been had about a zillion times now?

AMD had a 23XX shader part at least in consideration well before the Titan came out, that'd have been a fair bit closer to the Titan than the 7970 ever was.
It wouldn't have been better than the Titan or even on par, but it'd have made the GTX680 a none starter when it came out.

not everyone knocks the titan just because its way out of their budget, i think its way over priced but its your hobby so why not buy one, ive spent £500 on a ticket to a football match and i would again.whatever makes you happy .:)

I would also argue that headline FPS is not everything, from what I have seen the 290X is also hotter, noisier and AMD have still not completely resolved stuttering issues with crossfire ..

*He says as the jousting and flames get closer* :D

Nope, it has been done a bazillion times :D

I did notice the odd dig at Titan pricing way back in the olden days but I remember when GPU's cost 3 and 8 and nobody kicked off then :D

May even have been able to squeeze out hawai-esque part sooner too, bonaire (260X) was out way earlier in the year. Not the same chip granted but arch refinement wouldseem to have been well underway some time ago. Makes you wonder what it was that took them so long.

I think it was more like:
"OMG people are serious buying these cards at £800? It's gonna inflate the pricing for the normal range cards!!"
"No it isn't. Titan is a one-off special release"

*GTX780 launch at £550-£650
"Em...isn't that like £150-£200 higher than GTX680's launch price?"
"Who cares!? It's almost Titan's performance for nearly £200 less! It's the bargain of the century!!"
"...seriously? 40-50% higher in launch price for a card that's only around 40% faster than the GTX680, and at entire year later as well? Does extra performance with moving gen without price premium exist no more?"

At least that's how I remember it. One thing for sure, people biting onto the Nvidia's marketing of "look at the Titan...now look at the GTX780" *GTX780 flying off the shelf.

With a bit of luck it will die a death

I hate how everything is compared to Titan.

Nvidia probably only released and priced the titan as they did to make the overpriced 780 and upcoming 780ti seem excellent value for money as in reality not many 'sane' people purchased titans anyway.

It's just comments like this that sparked me. Normally I just ignore it but I'm clock watching so I'm bound to flame till I can play with my new red bits...
