Geil® Ultra DDR2 2.0GB PC6400 Dual Channel Kit (2 x 1GB) 800+MHz Ultra Low Latency CA

It certainly will. The e6600 only needs 9x355 to get 3.2Ghz.

which it should be easily and quietly? :) I'm an overclocking virgin :p

EDIT: We're going to have near identical systems..when mines finished late Feb:

Corsair HX 520w
Lian-Li PC-7 Plus Aluminium Silver
Gigabyte GA_965P_DS3
Conroe E6600 (Tuniq Tower cooler)
36Gb Raptor (Vista installed)
200Gb Documents/Programs (Upgrading at a later date)
7900GT (From old system)

yeap is very easy to do 3200mhz in a E 6600
for this chip this is nothing, with the right stuff you reach easily 3600mhz and if you push voltages you get 4000mhz and more

I have a Xeon Conroe 3050 (same as Conroe E 6400) and i use it 24/24at 3200mhz
Cpu Vcore at 1.32V,Vdimm at 2.25V and all others voltages at default
Intel stock cpu cooler, with fan at 900 rpm and CPU temp. at 38º/ 40ºC

just finish a little stress testing, with Orthos

Hi guys...thought i'd post some screenies of my £128 Geil pc6400....testing my new E6400 got today:D

7X500fsb - 3.5ghz

8x475fsb - 3.8ghz

See not all Geil pc6400 are bad and cpu is not bad either hoping for 3.6ghz stable when finished playing around.:)

I mate
nice results there :)
SP 1M is similar to mine at 480x8 = 3840mhz
but i do it with the ram at fsb:dram ratio of 1:1
( without divisor in the memory)

could you show the memory tab in cpu-z,when you do the SP IM, please?

that one

thank´s

"Hi m8... gigabyte board cannot use a divider below 1:1."

so my board ,does not use divider below 1:1

ok ,you got a nice kit of geil PC2 6400CL4 Ultra 12-4-4-4
DDR 1010 at 1:1 with that ram is very good indeed
(timmings are at 15-5-5-5 but this is normal) and the value of SP 1M is great too

I had a kit 1Gb( 2x512MB)of the same Ram for two weeks, and i try to overclock to theses values but had no luck as you have

note that I can run the PC normally at 500fsb mems 1:1,surfing the net etc( not gamming)
only when I do some stress testing I get erros ,like in SP1M for example:

and I was doing 2.2V in vdimm, and have raised the timmings to 18-5-5-5
but still no luck
and i try few tweakings with RAM and CPU timmings, voltages ,etc but allways get errors in SP 1M
( and I now, for my paste systems, that kind of errors are memory related)

so I think some Geil PC2 Ultra 6400CL4 are best than other
( and that is no surprise since Geil use two kinds of ramchips in that ram -Elpida and Aeneon)

and Aeneon is bad  -
I had bad experiences with that chip´s with DDR 400 in the past

anyway i sell my Geil ram and go for a try with Ballistix PC 5300 rated 12-3-3-3 at DDR 667,cause I now that ram uses chip´s Micron D9´s

and now I do 500fsb mems at 1:1( and more) with tight timings like 12-4-4-4, with no SP 1M errors, wich is very ,very good
and that is all that counts for me

and I´m not saying that Geil Ultra 6400 is bad, just some chips are not good as other´s are

Hi m8....the screenshot i posted yesterday was when testing my new chip and did get it to 510fsb yesterday....but i have acheived better results like with my old E6600 @ 512fsb C4...yes i have proof if needed....it's all in my posts anyway lol....and i think they would go even further but 512fsb is my boards limit.

When you did 500fsb with your Geil you say you only gave then 2.2vdimm....did you not try higher as my results are acheived with 2.35vdimm which are also are air cooled.

Yes you are quite right about Geil mem chip's one's better than others....and i guess i'm one of those who got the good...well in my case i would say very good :D

Glad to see you are happy with your setup....and a very nice setup it is you got there and yes the crucial mem is up there with some of the best...if i were buying know that would be my choice ;).... and very tempted to try an Asus board myself but don't know how my mem would play.

And last but not least as there are quite a few posts about Geil mem letting people down...i feel i have to support it although it was from the very first batch around 5mths ago and to what i paid there is simply not another kit price/performance out there to match it....and i am one very happy chappy. :)

vocch

yes i tried to do like 2.2V / 2.3V in the Geil ram but in SP 1M i got no luck
even boot the system at 520fsb at 1:1 with Geil ram,and work in windows normally ,just have problems in doing SP 1M ( not square in round)

when i buy this board ,i was thinking to buy Giga DS4, cause it is less 30/ 35 € than the ASUS
but the owner of the shop( who is a former overclocker himself) told me that Gigabyte is s little bit more complicated than ASUS( in tweaking the bios an stability)
so i went for his opinion and buy that P5b de luxe

anyway,in my country Gigabyte DS3 / DS4 and ASUS P5B de luxe are the
favorites among the "overclocker´s"

the P5B de luxe has a well now problem, that is the Vdrop - the voltage in windows is below that you put in the bios
and that is a problem when overclocking to the maximum
but even with that problem some guys overclock that board easily at 550fsb

and some guys do the Vdrop "mod" and go much higher in fsb ( 560 and over)

and another problem is same you have, the mems divisor is just 1:1 or higher

that is the reason some of the owner´s of that board are changing now to the new boards with chip7 like Nvidia 680i and ATi RD600, cause they have lower divisor´s in the ram, so they could get much more control over the ram

with fsb at 390 if you use divisor 1:1 you run the mems at DDR 780 pretty close of the stock for PC26400

if your board have higher divisor´s in ram, if you put fsb at 320 and use a 4:5 divisor you get DDR 800 in the Ram

but i´m not familiar with Abit boards,it is not easy to help you on that matter
sorry

I so wish I could get mine stable at the right setting :( My AW9D-Max seems to think its PC5300 for a start and in the bios its setting it too 667 :( Its meant to be 800, but its so not working right :(

It should, the spd (which is what the bios reads) is set at safe values (DDR667). However the dimms are rated to run stable at DDR800 4-4-4-12 @2.1v, so you should be able to run the sticks at that setting without issue.

Hi there

Great to see some good results.

I have a target to try and sell 1000pcs in one week, so I've further reduced our price just a little. Its now just £109.99 +VAT for the 2GB kit, now that is unbeatable value. :)

Im currently using an Asus P5WDH Deluxe motherboard with the 2x1gb GSkill HZ mem kit. Would this Geil Ultra run along side the Gskill in this configuration? To make 4x1gb ? Forgot to say running a E6600 at 3.2ghz 356FSB on a 1:1 divider i believe at the mo.

Cheers.
