General Butt Naked...

I only saw the write-up in the paper at about 11pm.

Is he now a preacher or something? Is he trying to use that as an angle, that he is redeemed?

Yeah, he's now a Christian preacher. The part of the show that I saw was a crew following him around as he apologised and sought forgiveness from some of the people whose lives he wrecked.

Lots of crying, hugging, praying and other nonsense.

Oh, my apologies, I bow to your superior strength of mind.

What? You're getting indignant because I mentioned laughing at something that carries legitimate humour.

If you'd rather sink into some kind of empathetic mire and just tut and mutter about how horrible it all is then go ahead. I'll take my chuckles where I can get them.

My original reply was more due to the fact that it doesn't 'carry legitimate humour', as you like to put it, as unless you're 8 years old it's not even remotely funny, and that it really isn't a laughing matter, especially when it's people who have narrowly escaped with their lives following one of these disgusting attacks who are recounting these stories.

My second reply was laughing at you, and your strange superiority complex where whoever doesn't have a crap childish sense of humour, and doesn't want to laugh at victims of terrible crimes are 'weak minded'.

I know it's uncool to appear to be taking something seriously, so feel free to carry on as you are, but I wont be laughing at this crap anytime soon.

Where exactly was I laughing at the victims, or even mentioning laughing at the victims? You'll likely find I wasn't.

The acts he perpetrated, and what goes on to this day over there, sure as **** isn't funny in the slightest, but that's entirely divorced from the moniker "General Butt Naked". You appear to have trouble seperating the title from the deeds. By laughing at the name, I'm not belittling the things he did or what those people suffered. Why do you believe it to be so?

It's not a superiority complex, it's a genuine question. My view of the matter is:

1. "General Butt Naked" - Funny name that raises a chuckle. Makes me imagine a nude British general wearing only boots, a hat, and a giant moustache.

+

2. The deeds of this particular gentleman.

=

Sheer human horror.

So, with those two things seperate, I can laugh at the name "General Butt Naked", because it's a rather funny title for somebody to have -- and even to be known and feared by! By doing so, I'm not laughing at the victims or the terror this individual wrought.

Your view:

1. The title "General Butt Naked" = This particular man, his deeds, and the effects on his victims. Which is not a laughing matter at all.

Why are you unable, or unwilling, to see the situation as its constituents. Why is it so black and white?

Hopefully that clarifies where I'm coming from!

I'll be honest, I lost the will to argue with you shortly after my first post, but I'll try and clarify.

Using your bizarre but effective mathematical approach, this is me -

1. "General Butt Naked" - Not amusing, due to it not being funny.

+

2. The deeds of this particular gentleman.

= Sheer human horror, not a laughing matter.

I don't see the actual humour, it's just a crappy name not something to bring me to actual laughter, hence me not finding it funny.

And I don't see why I should break this down into it's constituent parts, what's the point? The reality is that his name and his deeds are not separate, so any humour found in the former is swallowed up by the latter.

That'll do I think, I can't be bother to argue, it's too hot and I'm hungry. Oh hang on, yeah, I get that you're not laughing at the victims, I retract that comment.

Hopefully that clarifies where I'm coming from! Or not, I don't care.

I didn't intend any of it to be an argument, rather a discussion and/or explanation so I could understand your own approach and thought process that provoked your initial reaction.

The ultimate goal being that I could maybe gain a deeper understanding of where you're coming from and not act dismissively. It seems that's all you wish to do, though -- rest assured I enjoyed the little sprinkles of belittling and, funnily enough, the air of superiority you so readily accused me of initially.

Good day! Enjoy your food and cool down! :)

You still argue your point during a discussion or a debate, hence the term 'argue'.

I've given you my views, I've shown that I understand your views, problem? If I seem dismissive, it's probably because I am, I have ceased to care about this, I can't really help that.

Good day! Enjoy your food and cool down! :)

Yeah, will do thanks.

Very moving documentary. It's amazing what the power of Jesus can do to people - Even if I believe it is all made up it shows there is power for change and that's all that matters.
