General Filament Chat

Random filament chat fomr me. Started using Bambu Labs PLA support material (new) and honestly I wish I'd done it sooner. Bit pricier than petg for the same purpose and I only use it for the interface layer but its been great so far
 
I've never used support filament, I just adjust the top layer gap thing in the slicer...
 
I try to avoid needing support but had a piece that required it (unless I could be bothered to split into two parts and then join afterwards...which I couldn't) so gave it a go with tree support for a large flat overhang. Really dense support, thought I'd never get it off - especially in PETG-GF. Turns out that you can adjust it in the slicer....or you can adjust it AFTER printing.....with a nice sharp chisel! :D Additive manufacture is great, but sometimes you need a bit of old-school subtraction :D
 
Agree. I've been doing some parts for a requested Armorcast Reaver that looked straightforward enough but honestly this support material is a game changer. I only use it for the support interface layer. Clean prints. Can't wait to see how some mini's turn out
 
The only time I've used something else as any sort of support material is using PLA as a raft for TPU, thats a game changer
 
I have printed off the AMS dessicant holders for my 2*P1S and placed a humidity sensor in each one.
Since doing this , I have had zero failed prints with any filaments, where as before I was getting stringy prints at times.
Been a really good printing investment.

Various materials and colours. I've used their PETG for a while now which gives great results on my A1 and that's coming in at £38.21 for 4x1Kg rolls
 
I tend to find, whatever the first tier of discount is, its usually the Amazon price, but if you buy more then you are better off with direct to manufacturer ordering.
 
Ive just headed back to Sunlu PLA+2.0 as their last sale I think caused me to have some random stock from who knows where. Its currently £40 for four rolls on Amazon. Also giving some of the matte high speed petg a whirl at £11 a roll
 
I picked up 4 rolls of Jayo PLA on Ebay last week for £34.43 as they had a offer on (buy one get one 15% off if I remember right) and it's good stuff. I've not had any problems with it at all. I also picked up a Tinmorry PETG-GF last week for £12.99 on Amazon as I needed something tough and that has also proved very decent.

Lovely stuff. Prints beautifully - even from the AMS. Currently running it using the Bambu PETG-CF profile but with the nozzle temp at 280°C and the bed at 80°C (although I'm running a thick G10 bed which is probably why that's necessary even for PETG). All the stuff I've been printing lately in my Overkill project has been from their black PETG-GF and it's stong, light and goes quite well with the case - not a perfect colour-match but the slightly ripply texture you get from the fibres goes quite well with the powder coat texture.
 
I used an Olive green matt Eryone PLA a while back that was quite nice, seems harder to get hold of now. Any good matt colours people can recommend?
 
Cheers, only ever had the original rolls from BL that I got with the printer due to cost, £18 a roll + P&P.

Had a lot of luck with Jayo but don't recall matt so I'll need to look around, anyone used Geeetech ?

A long time ago on a printer from another era. Their PETG. It went horribly brittle but I suspect now that it could have just needed some serious drying. I think it was ok when fresh...but it is a while ago now.

Jayo is a Sunlu 'sub-brand' and they both have superb offers on at the moment. In addition to the Sunlu PLA+2.0 I picked up some Sunlu High Speed Matte PETG to try and a roll of regular high speed pla.

Also treated myself to some Bambu PLA-CF I grabbed an ebay deal on off someone just for a try.

Anyone used the Sunlu High Speed matte petg or pla? Any good? Likewise anyone tried Bambu's PLA-CF?
 
Both good. Used the Bambu PLA-CF to print an external spool holder mounted to the side. Worked well and was stiff enough. Lasted well but eventually retired it as I started using dry boxes.

Sunlu PETG in either flavour works fine. I honestly can't remember if I upped the speed on the high-speed variety, but I think I just left it on the Bambu PETG Basic profile. Only thing to be aware of is that you remember it's the matte variety when you re-order mid print run!
Haven't used their PLA (although I do have some on the shelf!) as I tend to print most stuff I some flavour of PETG. I think the only real problem with PLA is entirely in my head :D

Another user of Bambu matt, Dark green/Bone white/Charcoal/Ash Grey all print lovely and are true matt unlike some others I've bought, I tend to do bulk orders on refills which work out at £11.99 a roll when you buy 6.
 
Maybe we should have a colour chart where we can link to rolls that are the right sort of colour for certain things?
