my friend wants to get himself a computer and i was wondering what to do with his budget as it is rather low
around 200 pounds
its a full build, peripherals included,

and feedback and builds would be greatly appreciated, thanks

I keep trying to make a build for around that price, it just never seems doable.

There are amd options, but as soon as you add a gfx card your over budget.

Very much depends on what games too.

yeah i said that it would be very tricky to make such a build, how much would a cheap build be then (trying to stay as close as possible to the budget)
OS not included either.

I really can't see this being doable...

At a guess, you might be able to scrape together the mobo/CPU(Core2Duo or Quad?)/RAM, along with a GPU (2nd hand 4870 or 4890?) all second hand for £100 or so if you're lucky, but that leaves you with little cash to get a case, PSU, Keyboard, Mouse...

You don't say what it's for... general day to day browsing and work, or gaming? If it's the former then you can probably get hold of a super cheap Compaq or something from the bay, whack more memory in it and stay in budget.

EDIT: Didn't read title properly... d'oh.

i think he has just decided that he will wait rather than wasting money on what would probably be a big downgrade, what could you get from a budget of around £500?

£500 is much, much more realistic. At that budget, you're looking at a modern Core i3, 4+ GB of RAM, Radeon 6850 or similar.
