hi everyone,

i am curently going to build my first computer soon and i have a short list of components, here it is

Case=NZXT Gamma Mid-Tower Case - Black
motherboard=Gigabyte GA-MA74GM-S2H AMD 740G (Socket AM3/AM2+) DDR2 microATX Motherboard [GA-MA74GM-S2H]
procesor=AMD Athlon II X2 Dual Core 240 2.80GHz (Socket AM3) - Retail [ADX245OCGQBOX]
RAM=Crucial 1GB (2x512MB) DDR2 PC2-5300C5 ECC Registered Dual Channel (CT667016) [CT667016]
HDD=Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 250GB SATA-II 8MB Cache - OEM (ST3250318AS) [ST3250318AS]
disc drive=Samsung SH-S223B/RSMN 22x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black/Silver/Biege) - Retail
fans=Akasa AK-274CG-4GNS 120mm Green LED Fan [AK-274CG-4GNS (2 of these though)
PSU=???

i have a few questions.

1. will all of these components work together/be compatable and fit inside my case?
1.5 is there anything that i am missing?
2. the motherboard says it has "Integrated ATI Radeon 2100 graphics", so does this mean that i dont need to buy a graphics card right now?
3. what sort of PSU will i need to buy (i dont know which) with room to expand onto a big graphics card later?
4. where is the best place to buy an anti static wrist band (ebay i think)

many,many tanks in advance.

Welcome to the forums:

1. Looks ok to me.. A bigger HDD might bode well.
1.5 - yes a PSU :p
2. No but you'll be limited to what games you might be able to play. You always best of with a dedicated video card for gaming.
3. Minimum 400w but I'd go for the Corsair 650w. Bit of an overkill but will see you through many upgrades to come.
4. Don't bother - just touch an earthed appliance before handling your components.

Hi there, welcome to the OCUK forums :D

I'll try my best to answer your questions:

1: Yes, they will all fit in the case and work together.

1.5: You will want a graphics card if you are gaming, but if you won't be gaming - then the motherboard integrated graphics will work fine.
Do you need an operating system?
Do you need any peripherals like monitor, mouse, keyboard, speakers, mic, wireless adapter?

2: Indeed, no separate graphics card required. However, if you want to play games, or play HD movies with hardware accelleration, a separate graphics card will be required.

3: Something like this would be a good bet.

4:Not sure TBH, I don't use one and make plenty of computers - I find they get in the way. So long as you ground yourself often then it isn't an issue. If you feel you do need one then I can only suggest you give it a google.

Out of interest, what is your budget and planned usage of your system? We may be able to come up with an alternate spec that will be even better value for money.

1) Yes everything will fit. Although you do have a micro ATX mobo. Any particular reason for this?
2) the integrated graphics work much like a laptop. You won't need a graphics card to look at the screen, but for any games or graphics intensive programs you will struggle.
3) I'd say 500/600W if you're looking to add graphics card in the future.
4) Just pop down to a local hardware/computer store. They usually have a few and the prices for something so small shouldn't be killer.

As a note. I would highly recommend getting a standard ATX mobo and a separate graphics card. You'd get much better performance. What is your budget and what will you be using it for? I'll spec something out for you.
