General Help & Recommendations

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could help me with ideas and suggestions on what to do with my current build etc.

I currently have:
AMD 64 5200+ Dual Core at stock 2.6
ZALMAN CNPS 9700 LED CPU Cooler
Asus M2N-SLI Deluxe
4x1GB Corsair XMS2 Pro 800mhz
1x 640GB Black Maxtor HDD
1x 1TB Samsung HDD
2x 500GB Samsung in RAID 0
650watt PSU
ATI Radeon HD 4890

And I play games mostly (TF2/BLands/DiRT2/Bad Company 2 etc), web and graphic design with Dreamweaver and Photoshop CS3 etc and listen to music and my question is;

1. Do I try and get the Phenom II X4 940BE working on my board? (Research suggests it does work but appears as "Unreconised quad core proccessor 3.0" or something rediculas but I assume it wouldn't be at it's potential as my memory will hold it back? Would it be a (if it worked?) a good upgrade for my current setup?

2. Cut my losses, sell the Motherboard/CPU/Memory and move to the i5? If so what would people recommend for a good Motherboard/CPU/Memory to cover the above? Would the Zalman be ok with the i5, it has the fittings but would be cool enough? (I've heard you can get the i5 to 4GHz just on air cooled?)

I looked into an Asus P7P55D P55 Motherboard (That OCuK use on the Air cooled i5 Bundle) but it doesn't support single HDD's and a RAID setup which has put me off, are all Intel boards like this or is it just the this one?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Unsure on AMD in all honesty but I'd wouldnt take the gamble cut your loses sell up and move to a new platform.

As far as 15 you cant go wrong with any of the Gigabyte motherboards, the Patriot sector 5 ram will serve you well also.

The zalman will be fine the i5s will reach 4ghz if not very close to that with stock cooling I believe.

Are there many benifits to getting say an £80 M/B over a £110 M/B? Also do you need 1600Mhz speed ram, or will it be ok with 1333Mhz?

Do you need i5 specific memory or is that one of those conns?
