So I charity I freelance at has just had fibre installed and the included router is a Genexis HRG1000. Unfortunately it appears to be a pos which does not allow the user to restrict which wan ports can connect to the router for port forwarding purposes, so there's nothing stopping every man and his dog from connecting to 3306 and attempting to connect to the database for example.
Can I replace this crapper with a standard router, or is there some other solution available to restrict access to the wan port?
