Two women have filed lawsuits in the United States after accusing ex-heavyweight world champion George Foreman of sexual abuse in the 1970s.

The women say they both met Foreman as children as their fathers were boxing associates of the now 73-year-old.
One accused Foreman of grooming her when she was eight and having sex with her when she was 15, her lawsuit says.

The other accused him of sexually abusing and raping her when she was 15 and 16-years-old.

Foreman has denied the allegations.

I only remember him for his grill adverts.
 
I thought the Americans had a statute of limitations on these sorts of things. I am really torn on these long ago crime claims. on one hand there is a cold place in hell for anyone who does sexual abuse. OTOH how do you possibly defend yourself against claims from a life.time ago. also attitudes have changed and people have to be tried based on what was acceptable at the time imo.
even if he is innocent the where there is smoke there is fire folk will be have him tried and convicted regardless imo

for instance iirc sex with a 15 year old was legal back then wasn't it (with consent of course). didn't Jerry Lee Lewis get kicked out of England due to having a 13 year old bride for instance (I have not googled to fact check my memory so may be editing this post in a min ;) )

It is different ages in different states. You can Imaging the Texas states having a lower age before it is classed as statutory rape. Note I didnt say sexual consent.

They do have limitations, between 10-21 years (varies by state) for criminal cases. Shorter for civil. However some states remove the limitations if the victim was a minor at the time of the offence, other states start the statute from when they're 21
