Can i ask why? I greatly enjoyed it compared to more "traditional" mmorpgs?

To me it just seemed there wasn't much content for the fee that they'd want me to pay for this. It felt like buying the tabletop RPG set with no other books in that it started you off with a basic dungeon and that was it.

I was getting this until I played in the stress test. As has already been said, apart from the instanced dungeons there is nothing to do. It reminded me too much of Guild Wars.

If all my old buddies from EQ decide to pick it up and we have a dedicated group for doing instances I might get it, otherwise not.

Just downloaded and messed about with the beta last night. Going to give it a good go ove the weekend and see what Its like.

I'm on the Lyrander server if anyones about on the weekend and fancys haveing a mess about.

I too will join the Lyrander server, although I'm not sure I'll be playing much as my RFonline preorder pack just arrived ;)

if you post your Character name we can possibly group?

either that or add me to Xfire (Velocity219e)

Had a quick bash at this the other night. Seems goodish although very very cheesy.

Which I suppose is good lol.

Only trouble I'm having is I've not played d+d style things for about 15 years. So picking the best weapon when it's a d8 or d10 etc I haven't a clue lol.

Haven't tried grouping up with anyone yet as I was playing around with the warrior class. But I'm going to have a go at some other classes as well.

lads can you help? i got a key from file planet and made a account at code masters but how do i play? do i have to wait and see if i get accepted or am i doing some thing wrong please help, really wanna give it a bash!

1 - First of all you will need to set up a free Codemasters Online
Gaming (COG) account. To do this, go to
http://www.codemasters.com/cog/
and follow the on-screen instructions to create a new account.
Once you have completed this section, an activation e-mail will be
sent to the e-mail address you provided. Check your e-mail and follow
the link to activate your account.

2 - Next you need to set up a subscription in your COG account.
Once your COG account is active, log into it to create a new subscription.
Click on the 'Click here to create a new subscription link'. From the
drop down product list, select Dungeons & Dragons Online BETA.
Enter your beta registration key in the next field. Your registration
key is:

8888-8888-8888-8888-8888

Important: If you attempt to use the registration key before the date
specified above, then you may receive an error.

Finally, type the word you see in the box to confirm you are human :-)
After submitting this information you should see a message saying
'Your subscription to Dungeons & Dragons Online BETA has been created
successfully.'

3 - Download and install the game client
If you haven't already done so, now's the time to download and
install the Dungeons and Dragons Online game client. You can download
it via our exclusive BETA download partner:
http://www.fileplanet.com/download.aspx?f=160328

The client is approximately 1.7GB in size so it might take some time
to complete! Once download has completed, double-click the executable
to begin installation. Follow the on-screen instructions throughout
the installation process.

4 - Play away!
Once installed, run the DDO game client. A window will appear asking
you to enter your login and password. Here you should input the COG
username and password you chose in step 1. The game may patch itself
at this point. Once complete, simply hit the 'Play' button and we'll
see you in Stormreach!

copy pasted from a codemasters email, hope it helps.

I played the stress test and just played a couple hours of the European Beta and it's changed quite a bit, but not enough for me to keep playing unfortunately .I was bored pretty much instantly, doing the same sort of dungeon over and over again gets boring quick, as there isnt any solo mission's past the newb island.

A couple things which i did like was the loot distribution, I think they have this pretty much spot on with items being reserved for people. Another thing was the combat, if a little frustrating at time because of all misses but overall it was good.

Unfortunately, I don't see myself paying a sub for this at all. The narrator adds a lot to the dungeons(probably my favourite thing about the game) but otherwise it offers nothing else special. If it was a no-sub game I would probably preorder it anyway(as I've only played 2-3 hours tops).

It seems to lack a lot of the soical element other MMO's. Chat windows are not big enough and I couldnt get the UI to make my life any easier for this.

No point being a MMO if there is no community in my opinion. obviously this will no doubt change drastically when they go live.

I too found it got boring fast, would be a good offline RPG though :)
