Get this for a prank call

someone did nearly the same thing to me a while ago mate, the house phone rang about 3 in the mornin and I answered it and it was some guy, sounded in his thirties at least and he sounded like he was panicking a bit.

I didnt know what was goin on and this guy said that Ken (my stepdad) was dead, and he was like "shutup will you Kens dead". So naturally I panicked not knowin where Ken was at that time.

Went upstairs, checked and he was in bed.

Gits.

Be interesting to see if anything happens to Sharon's mum in the upcoming months regarding a breathing problem. Spooky stuff ;(

phone the number back from a mobile and claim to be trying to deliver a package to the house but your lost, get them to describe where they are and confirm the address, then claim you have the wrong post code or something and you'll be around in a bit!

social engineering for the win

Nope BT "only" own the lines they put down (still most of them).

If you're NTL/Telewest there is a good chance your phone line will have been laid/owned by them.

Spot on

Telewest and NTL own their own network and own their own lines.
