Get your childhood trauma ready.... BBC to show Threads again.

I have no memory of this whatsoever so just quickly skipped through it. I mean.... what in the.... people thought this was real? Wow.
In 1992? Yes.

Had some proper serious presenters hosting, and Craig Charles. The BBC was a trustworthy organisation and it was broadcast as a serious programme.

Just remember that War of the World initially sent people into a panic with it's radio broadcast in 1938.

When Craig Charles comes on after 4 minutes, that literally confirms the seriousness of it right there lol
But yeah I see your point.

Glued to this, it’s riveting. Amazing what restrictive powers can be introduced at the drop of a hat.

So many parallels with todays goings on and the Covid stuff

I only watched Threads for the first time in early 2021 and it gave me nightmares even at the age of 42 and decades after the fall of the Berlin Wall.

Gen-Xers / Millennials bang on about how good the 80s was for music, movies, fashion etc. Adults at the time though won't have had the same opinion though due to constant threat of a nuclear war.

Not exactly balanced, is it. The whole show just seems to be a hatchet job on the nuclear weapons industry.
It's almost like people were worried about what would happen in the event of a nuclear war and were not enthusiastic about how many there were and their potential use.

It's a bit like Outbreak wasn't a fan of the ebola virus getting loose.

Thought I'd watch this after seeing this thread, I have heard of it before though. It was actually pretty grim and depressing, not something you'd want to see twice! :p
