Hi,

Just had a call from T-mobile to inform me I can have an early upgrade. I had already started to look around as I was able to upgrade from May 23rd anyway, and I had chosen the Desire S.

I currently have the original Wildfire, so from that you can guess that I'm not worried about being at the cutting edge of mobile phone technology. I'm happy to stay with HTC as I've had zero problems with the Wildfire and I've enjoyed using it.

However, I do have a couple of quick questions about the Desire S...

1) Is it able to run the very latest version of Android (Ice cream sandwich I believe?)

2) And battery life? I use mobile internet every day (Flickr, and forums) so don't need a phone that I'll need to charge more than once a day!

Thanks in advance.

1) Currently there isn't an official ICS ROM you can use on it (although HTC have confirmed that they will release one eventually) but there are various custom ROM's running ICS that you can try. This is assuming you're willing to root it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1033

2) I can confirm that you will not have to charge it more than once a day. Mine usually still has just under half battery when I put it to charge at night with moderate usage. If I haven't used it much that day then it can last another day of light use before it needs charging.

Thanks reflux, but no...I'm getting the Desire S for free on my current tariff. I never pay for a handset, and I'm not prepared to increase my phone bill (currently £21 a month) just for a phone.

A free upgrader that wants latest softwares, wait a while for a better phone to become available.

Problem with that? Why pay for a phone when I can get a perfectly good one for free!? And, I didn't say I wanted the latest software (note, no "s" on the end) did I? I merely asked if it could run the latest version of Android.
