Its not unbearable pain just sit on your hands, though NHS dentists have a knack for hitting nerves then it can get a little painfull.

The hell with that. Don't sit on your hands. Grab your dentist firmly by the plums and assume him it WILL hurt him more than it hurts you. Look him right in the eyes when you say that, and don't smile. He'll be good as gold.

PS. Those with a female densist need to devise another anti-pain strategy, because there's a minor technical problem with my technique.

A properly administered injection is no worse than a pin *****. As soon as the needle goes in, they inject a little anaesthetic. That numbs the area for the rest of the injection. This process is a little slower than just shoving in right in, so it may take, oh, 10 seconds (even if it feels like it's a week).

If the injection really hurts, either you're a wuss, or you need a new dentist.

Numbing cream? Pah. It's for wimps. I'm a real man. I can stand the pinprick without too many tears.

I got 3 in the roof of my mouth.
The stuff was spraying every where and it stung very very badly.

You should have tried the "grab the plums" technique, Zip. It concentrates the dentist's attention wonderfully.


It does sound like you had a bad one. Dentistry has certainly come on leaps and bounds, and a "few" years could make the difference. But yeah, roof of mouth injections are much worse than gum, even deep gum for root canal.

Just as i was about to hit them the nurse grabbed my arm

I had an injection last year, they used the cream and i didnt feel anything

You should try having a root canal, I had one and it hurts like hell, i wouldnt worry about it, better getting it done now as if you don't sort it you will get tooth ache which is the worse pain i have ever had.
