Getting a fitted kitchen!

Not everyone has the money for that.. id say the OP aint looking at spending that type of money either. .

I was replying to "seek" who couldn't understand how parts + labour could come to ten grand

Also if you find a local joiner with a good rep you should be ok. Only idiots normally get the wool pulled over their eyes by a builder doing a runner. Not all tradesmen with their own company want to take your money and run.. A fair amount want to build up a good rep and name.
I know - that is why I suggested it as a proviso not a rule of thumb - you seem to be agreeing with me yet disagreeing with me?

I can assure you, however, it's not JUST idiots who get taken for a ride - there are a lot of very clever rogues out there who are good enough to pull the wool over anybodys eyes. It happens all the time - showrooms too I might say to add balance.

My mum got quoted £44k for a Mark Wilkinson (may be wrong, price is right though) kitchen. They are probably still waiting for a call!

Rofl i'd want a frigging EXTENSION for that money ;)

As far as the costs go... well they never gave me a break-down of the costs (hmmmmm that's always reassuring!) but it's obvious that the actual appliances/units are a heavily inflated price... no idea how much the install amounts to :S)

From all the nightmare stories ive been reading about (most seem to be the same thing - shoddy installs done by cowboys - then poor to ZERO communication between the store etc) I think i'm going to hold off on the kitchen now lol

But i think when i DO finally go for one, i'll go with Everest - as they seem to pride themselves on actually doing a good job installing etc (and they are a reputable company that have been around for donkeys etc).

Failing that i'll just become an MP - then all you suckers can pay for my new kitchen!

;)
