Getting a flickr following

I want to meet you and go for a shoot together round bristol way at some point, but i need a tripod first and a ballhead and theres so many out there. I know the expensive ones such as arca are great, but no idea on the £100 range ones.

RedSnapper RS-283.

Flickr is gigantic so don't be disencouraged if you don't get many comments. I can spend hours on there just hitting the Reload button on the Interesting Photos in the Last 7 Days section.

Just tag your photos well, comment on other photos you see and they will come :)

But is the ball head actually good ?

I dont want to buy a cheaper tripod that isnt stable and the head isnt great, i would rather spend £900 on a gitzo setup that i can count on in all conditions really!

I just want to make sure before i spend my cash! :)

Yes it is good. Have a read here and on TalkPhotography. I have the RS-284 and the same ball head and highly recommend it. It's very very good.

The rs-283 (and I'm sure the 284 is great too) is the BEST tripod out there under £200. The RSH-12 is a GREAT head.

Thats a tripod system without a tripod head ?

Sold like that so you can add a head you may already own. It's got two threads so any tripod heads fit it. I've used the RS-283 with the RSH-12 and I'm now using it with the 488RC2 - the RSH-12 is on the monopod.

I ....

*snip*

Hope that helps matey. If you ever fancy an afternoon/evening/day out taking some shots, give me a shout.

Thanks for the comments you've given me - I'm familiar with and really like your work, so that gives some weight to the comments...hopefully I'll be able to up my game soon so I've got some images worth critiquing. I've looked through most of your pages and there was the occasional constructive criticism I was going to make, but amongst the many positive comments you get I'd be:

a) lost
b) lone dissenter (thereby sounding like a miserable sod)

...plus I feel a little unqualified when making crits!

Paul's photostream is also really nice (and far more disciplined than mine currently is!).

If Paul and yourself want to meet in or around Bristol sometime I'm game. Three's perhaps less awkward ;)

I'm game too, although I may run out of time in a month or so when my wife is due to pop our first sprog.

Good luck with that! It's getting on for conference season so I'll be in and out of the country for a bit come July/Aug/Sep, so perhaps sooner is better.

Paul/Mud; yes, defo would be up for getting some shots (I am happy to drive if you fancy something landscapy/seascapy). Sooner is good with me too!

Edit; Rojin, been meaning to suggest a meetup. You are actually up the road from where I work I think. (Quedgeley) Although I live in Bristol.

Crikey, yes just up the road. I'm in Hardwicke, all of two mins from Quedgeley Tesco! :D

lol, isn't it a nice one ;) Message me on Flickr if you want to link up for an morning/afternoon/evening out somewhere. Sunsets are quite doable due to the late evenings as are a morning/afternoon at a weekend. :)
