Getting a place on my own...

plenty of dodgy places in bristol ;]

I was told (by an estate agent, admittedly) that Montpelier was actually a nice up-market place  .

Ah well, Southmead isn't so bad - I haven't been knifed yet. It's just there's nothing here except a Lidl, an understocked Costcutter, and a few dodgy takeaways. And a hospital, presumably there to take care of all the stab wounds. :p

Sorry to thread hijack, but where are the actual nice places to live in Bristol? I plan on moving in 4 or 5 months after my minimum contract term on my current place expires.

That depends on the budget you have.

what sort of budget and what do you like. Would you want to be near the centre, in Bristol or on the outskirts, or further out in a village.

Also anyone know tahtw ebsite that gives you info. liek crime rates, average age of population and loads of other useful info.

I have the same kind of problem, but decided to go for it! My folks are off to France to live in July so I found a 1 bed place to live on my own. Trouble is I didnt know what bills etc are going to be like (they don't teach you useful things like that in school). On the good side this new place is 2min walk from work so will have very little petrol expenses. Il have around 250-300 left over as well, so Ill let you know how I get on:p

You can do it but it would assume that everything aside from say petrol is paid for, and it totally depends on what you like doing.

After me and my gf pay our mortgage and everything else, and by that i mean every single payment for the house we probably have around £600-£700 each a month as 'disposable', you would be shocked at how easily that gets eaten up though and we dont go out much. Birthdays, valentines, x needs sorted this month or y needs paid for this, it all adds ip and whilst you could do it on £250 dont forget if you are paid monthly that when its a 5 weekend month you will have £50 for 1 week.
