Hi.

I've never built my own computer. I've always paid for a custom build from a store (usually small local with years of experience). I have a feeling that I may have been charged quite a bit for my last build (quite a few years ago now) and I never had a break down of the parts costs and labour, they supplied parts and I think I could have been charged £150, I'm not sure if this is steep but maybe for 2014.

So now I maybe switching to another store.
To be honest I am familiar with both stores now and this one actually messages back if you contact them via the Internet and in depth too. They said that if I supply parts it's £80 but if they supply parts they don't charge a fee and it's instead what ever they quote on a custom build. So I guess the fee is included?

Which ever way I'm worried supplying own parts it might not work. What do you guys think?

What is your budget?

We can always suggest a build on here and you can contact OCUK and ask them to put it together for you. I am not sure on their cost but worth the enquiry?

Use overclockers or build it yourself, it's not that hard to be honest.

To he honest it's part laziness and also the fear of having to spend two days on it if there's troubleshooting. I'd definately use overclockers if I lived in the same city :)

Might get the parts over the next month whilst I wait for a 3070. Looking to build a 5900x build with that with 32gb ram (3600mhz cl16) . Air cooled cpu with assassin 3.. (165mm tall but ram might get in way) so I'll have to get a case with a good 175mm cpu clearance or low profile ram (probably get both). Mobo. Probably looking at around £1500.

I have ssds, Windows, and a decent bequiet one year old 750w psu.

Nowt to it building it yourself, it's all plug n play really. You should get a little bit of enjoyment putting it all together then firing it up! Just take a little time to route all of your cables logically and use the forum to ask any questions. Little. Bit of YT might help as well for videos...

If I do I'm definately labeling up my psu cables before I unplug them ha.

Haha, it's a doddle. 24pin, 4+4 8 pin on cpu, 8/6+2 on gpu, all the sata/molex etc self explanatory. Could even get an AIO for cpu, I dare you... ;)

Seriously, only thing you'll really need to pay attention to is putting the cpu in the right way, making sure it's seated properly, make sure gpu / ram are seated (piece of cake) and applying a nice even spread of TIM on the cpu before you mount the cooler.

A technics lego set is a harder build... :D
