Off to buy a j2 zx6r tommoro
Hopefully by tommorow will be the owner of a yellow j2 model. Now there is a back story of this bike. The bike used to belong to my friend / housemate that died in a crash 6 years ago. This was a bike he had owned from new and had dropped it at Caldwell and in the way only he could took it apart without having a clue how to repair it and took wheels off leaving it on paddock stands. Just prior to his accident he bought a 10r and sold the 6 to me as he needed the cash.

after a year or so of it sitting there in the middle of my garage causing issues trying to get my other bikes out and looking To move the decision was made to sell it and a chap bought it and collected with his neighbour with the promise they would get it back on the road again and send me pictures of the bike when back on the road.

About 8 months ago they sent me pics of bike back together and on the road. Still looks a little tatty fairing whise but mechanically have done quite as bit to it and is spot on. So spent the last 5 months persuading them to sell it back as I always regretted selling it due to the sentimental aspect to it.the bike is the bike that me and all that new him associated him with. Anyway getting to the point I've mithered the chap to death and he's willing to sell it back so off to collect it tommorow.

once I've got it back ill be looking to finish it off providing it is as mechanically sound as the seller says it is by getting fairing re sprayed with his nickname on it.

Thanks mate ill get some pics up tommorow potentially. Can't wait to see it again. His other couple of mates don't know I'm getting it back yet.

Will compliment my 2013 Ducati multistrada touring perfectly, good all year round bike that im planning on spending some money on and never selling again unless it moves on to other friends of his.

I run a G1/G2 zx6, bought silly cheap from a chap at work with the aim of getting back road and selling it on. Doesnt look to bad for a bike so old at the end of day and i use it daily for commuting and the long ride instead on the zx9. Did the evo triangle on it the other week and it was faultless.

Great bikes all round, though would swap it for a tiger or something similar :)

the bike was'nt that cheap in some ways as its a little tatty with a dint in the tank and left fairing in green and rest in yellow with snapped bracket on the headlight so zip tied together at that point. but mechanically its very sound. paid 1300 for it.

but its worth way more sentimentally to me so sod it. its only money.

runs really well and very quick for a 600. do you know which bits are intechangable between gs and js?

also roughly what revs would you be at at 70 mph on the motorway. mine runs at 6k so i think my mate must have re geared

will compliment my other bike nicely

Will check on the rev thing tommorow. As for interchangeability i cant say 100% but i think it was a engine/gearbox change and a new headlight.

g1/2 j1/2 are the same apart from front fairing/headlights and swing arm

its roughly 1k revs = 10mph on that bike

it'll be expensive to get the fairing/tank resprayed

are you getting the wheels powdercoated too? I think they were originally yellow same as the fairing

hi mate. money isnt really a factor as isnt being done for gain and wont be sold unless to its too a mutual mate.
if i get them resprayed it will be in the same scheme so still looks like his bike but i may just get a yellow left fairing if one pops up on ebay. respray around £300 im guessing
ive actually just got some refurb wheels which have been powder coated black as dont really like the yellow wheels.
my plan is too basically get it mehcanicaly sound which it pretty much is apart from brakes need a service i think and give it a quick service plugs, oil and filter and air filter then get some of the parts that are flaking powder coated either black or likely just satin.
the swingarm is also flaking but think that would be too much for me to look at removing to get powder coated

when I enquired it was roughly £150 per panel

they can probably touch up the damaged ones and respray the mismatched ones, yeah ebay is good they sometimes crop up

you could probably rub down the flaking parts of the swingarm and spray etch primer and get some colour matched spray off ebay bikecolors its called I think or go to jawel paints and get some mixed £17 a can last time I went

ive just rebuilt my g1 front calipers £14 a kit it was x2,if you look on ebay theres a guy offering full rebuild service cheap

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Tokico-6-...pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts_13&hash=item4d0d21e120

theres also some yellow carbon fibre vinyl wrap to cover the panels with if you wanted to do that

ouch didnt think it would be that much. not desperate for that anyway as the bike was aways quick and mechanically sound but tatty. if it was mint wouldbt be his bike ha

that doesnt look too bad but my mate who is very handy with a spanner has said that he will sort brakes for me, so may just order service kit and have ago at doing it with his guidance.
