True.

Now my memory is sketchy but my dad used to be manager of those bridges, and if I recall correctly, it is free to cross in one direction - I thought the free direction was Wales -> England.
Indeed, they are both free into England, £4.90 into Wales.

Why would people pay to get into Wales?

What, we all embark on a long car journey without money or credit cards etc? No, I can't say I've ever done that :) Does she have breakdown cover if she broke down as well?

try using another way into Wales, it'll be a longer router, but go up a bit further and it's free. did that a couple of yers ago going 2 grandperents wedding anaverysery (sorry about my rubbish spelling), thou we were going to Aberystwyth, but we took the back route from there over the hills, go into Wales for nothing :D

The old bridge is not free, it's the same price as the new bridge. It isn't far up the road at all, it's on the M48.
The old bridge has a poor surface, is narrower, badly affected by sidewinds, but it is prettier and generally quieter.

Maybe thats because your a boring person. Oh no, she was in a rush to see me had been out the night before and left with out inking her bank card was in her other bag, big deal. And no shes not got break down cover. Some times its best just to be spare of the moment. Whats the point in all of life going to plan, that sounds a bit dull to me. Live a little.

On the new bridge they escort you over an small access bridge and back onto the Eastbound carridgeway, and at the old bridge you get taken back to the roundabout just before the toll plaza.
Anyone else spot the problem with this? At least on one of the bridges the toll plaza is on the Welsh side. If it's a charge to cross the bridge, then by the time you get turned back, you already have. :)
