Getting added as a second driver, refused, try again?

My dad tried to add me to his insurance today (some horrible Peugeot thing), and they refused because I'm a high risk because I'm a supermarket home shopping driver, and my age (23).

I'm also a student, and spend more time studying than working. Would it be worth while or foolish to phone up again and state that I'm a student instead?

Don't obviously want to get him into any bother with his company, but being refused is a great pain. His previous insurer had no bother with adding me.

Obviously, he's the one who will be phoning and asking.

Cheers.

It's not lying, it's omitting part of the true, for example I'm not a security guard, I'm a receptionist lol

Joke, I think my insurance documents still say I'm a student and I'm 24! lol probably should get that updated

It's not a lie though, it would just be giving another answer (which is totally correct) to the occupation question.

I work about 16 hours a week, and study a lot more than that.

They normally ask if you have a part time job on the application. So when you take out the insurance no the phone and tell them you are just a student they will assume you do not have a part time job but when you get the paperwork it will probably be in the small print that you have to inform them if you do have any other jobs.

Your occupation is student and delivery driver.

Besides do you think they are stupid? They have the first request on record!

They will probably give him the insurance and take his money.

But when it comes to crash time he will find they will not pay out

That's a good point Doc!

You guys just reaffirmed what I first thought anyway, not worth the hassle.

Cheers. *skulks back to the food forum*.

So, my friend has said I could borrow his other car if his insurance company will add me onto his policy.

Would I be best getting him to tell his company that I'm a student or a delivery driver?

This isn't fronting, or illegal - It's exactly what you guys say all the time. Be 'creative' with your job description, but don't lie.

His job (occupation) is delivery driver, student isnt an occupation as such its just a way for them to differentiate between in education or unemployed

You can't be creative with a job description of delivery driver. Thats what you are. End of.

Being 'creative' means putting computer operator instead of computer programmer or something, because both are true.

You cannot change the fact you are a delivery driver and therefore they feel you represent a bigger risk.
