I am wanting to use an HDMI equipped TV as speakers for various devices with a standard headphones socket e.g. iPod / phone. Is this possible?

I realise the TV will probably have poor sound, but I don't have the facility for speakers. I don't need video capability.

Any advice appreciated.

The back of your TV should have a standard analogue audio in connection. You would need a male to male audio cable to connect it to an iPod or other media player.
If this is not the case then you would need an 'Audio to HDMI' connector, do a quick Google and it's similar to the first pic, I can't link to it...
