Getting bank card PIN from phone/wallet theft?

It's quite common not to turn it on or set it up, and it's not well known that bank security is so shoddy this this is something you need to do.
yea but if your using 2 factor authentication you'd think you'd keep your master key safe, not under plant pot/door mat outside the front door

I bet if you asked people on the street 95% would have no idea that there was another type of PIN other than the one the phone asks you to set up as a backup when face/finger print doesn't work.
shows how lacking in security these people are.

can you still rinse mobile phones balance with text donations and premium numbers when they are on a contract? might be why so many people's phones get snatched

It's not well understood that this is an issue. And personally I'd never really thought about it,and never seen it raised in any of the common security advice, certainly not raised when setting up 2fa in the first place on any of my accounts.

For most 2fa accounts this wouldn't even be a problem though, because someone would need access to another account (like your email), to reset passwords and get your account name, wouldn't just be able to use your card number or date of birth to bypass it.

This is mass market stuff, things like banking apps need to make it very very clear if their security is based on doing something other than following a set of on screen prompts and not writing their password down next to their phone etc.

Do you work for santander or something lol.

Having your 2FA code pop up in an email notification that can be read on your phone whilst it's locked seems to be root cause
If there's one takeaway from this, I think it's time to turn off message/email previews from the lockscreen for me.

I never take my wallet to the gym, just my phone. So I don't know what risk I have really, but there's no harm taking incidents like this on board and improving your own personal security circumstances.

Does anyone know how to set a PIN on an eSim?

should be locking/crypting the sim memory too, so those contacts , and the phantom contact Mr.Lloyd , his pin, not visible, or your home address .

Best thing is to have 3-4 different security details asked each time - biometrics and alphanumeric ones but only asks all but one in a different order. Or one service I used in the past asked me for 4th 8th and 3rd character of a password.
