Getting files from MAC onto Windows

Hey,

In september I'm going to be starting a graphics course and unfortunately they use macs! :D I don't mind doing work on their macs but somone told me if I do work on a mac I can't then simply put say a photoshop document on a memory stick and carry on working on it on my PC..? Is this correct?

No, that's not true.
 
If the memory stick is formatted as FAT then you'll be fine. It's directly copying between NTFS and HFS+ that isn't supported natively. There are various third party apps that can get around this though.

UNFORTUNATELY!?!?!?!?! :p hehe just kidding...

This is false, a .psd document on Mac will be the same as Windows. What you have to watch out for is the format of your memory stick sometimes you can't write to a specific format on a Mac (I can't remember right now which one)

:D :D :D FAT memory stick NOT NTFS + .PSD and you will be fine.

It's really not. A normal USB stick out of the packet will quite happily carry a Photoshop file from a Mac to a PC and back again and it will work on the same version of PS on both machines.

Any difference in PS version and whatnot is nothing to do with PC/Mac and is down to the software involved... just like it would be between two PCs. Or two Macs.

PSD is a proprietary format and OS has nothing to do with anything

But it is true, he can put the Photoshop file onto a USB stick and then transfer it to a MAC / PC without a problem. I know it is to do with the application not the OS I never said it was. ;)
