What are my options when the tooth is removed?, and what option do you reckon I should go for.

The tooth is getting removed tomorrow, and I'm 20 if that makes any difference to the options.

Thanks.

Assumably since its tomorrow its being done at a dentist, in which case probably in the chair. You will basically just get a local aesthetic then then dentist will wiggle it around with a fair bit of force on your jaw till you hear a crack then its out. The process doesn't take long at all and then you will probably sit around with some gauss on the gum for a few minutes while a clot forms before being set free.

Replace with this.

Bling bling.

If you're lucky a wisdom tooth will pop up at the back and slowly push the existing teeth, closing the gap.

I lost my front right top molar after it got smashed playing rugby in my 20's the dentist said to just wait for my wisdom teeth to come as they would push the gap up, my wisdom teeth came through long ago and I still have the gap, never did anything about it and I'm not bothered by it at all, guess it depends on how vain you are though whether it'll bother you or not.

When I said options, it wasn't about the pain is what to do about the gap, and the tooth is near the back so not noticeable when I smile.

And the tooth number is #14 by the way guys.

Had the same tooth removed myself and just left it as a gap. I don't notice it at all and nobody could possibly notice it missing. It felt a bit weird at first because it felt like an open wound in my mouth and I kept feeling it with my tongue. Once it had healed though soon forgot about it.

Having it taken out wasn't pleasant though. The tooth was fused to my jaw and had to be broken apart and taken out bit by bit. Not very nice under local anaesthetic!

Is it on the NHS if so be carefull, if i were you i'd go for another opinion, Why does the tooth need coming out, can you get a Root Canal done?

NHS dentist prefer to have teh tooth extracted rather than give you a root canal, if I were you id try and do what ever you can to keep it.
If he does take it out make sure you have an xray incase later you find out that you could have saved it to sue the dentist.

Are the teeth next to it in good health if so do not get a bridge they'll damage the teeth. If the tooth does come out then save 1500 for an implant.

Very soon you'll be able to have this done http://www.drbicuspid.com/index.aspx?sec=sup&sub=bai&pag=dis&ItemID=305787

Main advice, dont keep poking it with your tongue. You have to let it clot.

I had mine removed and the gum has now hardened, So I dont really have any trouble when eating. The odd crisps will sometimes stab me, but its rare

Good advice on the clot.

A 14 is not a molar, it a premolar, so if hat is he tooth coming out it is fairlt far forward, the same molar would be a 16. As for those numbers, tards use them, humans still use ul, upper left and a single digit, anyway.

An option would be to leave the space.
Don't expect it to close when other teeth erupt, you are too old for that to happen with any consistency.
A gold crown as someone posted a picture of is not an option, there will be no root to stick a crown to.
A bridge is an option, using the tooth in front, or behind, or both to span th gap and close it.
A removable denture with a single tooth is an option.
An implant costing 2000 is also an option where a titanium screw is placed in the bone and a crown placed on top after, dont let some gob#}%{} talk you into that unless he has specialist qualifications to place them.

If it is a 14, does it have to be taken out? Can the tooth not be root filled to try and keep it for a few years first? Is it very badly decayed?

Same here! When they took mine out it was almost like the old Laurel and Hardy sketch with the dentist kneeling on your chest :D
