I got honked at twice tonight and it left me wondering if it was something I had done or just the other driver.

First scenario I'm going down a road, there's parked cars on both sides but I think at this point there were some on mine. I passed the car, and another car in the opposite direction honked at me, and the driver kind of glared at me as I passed. We could both pass at the same time, there was enough room at the speed we were going.

Secondly, I'm going down a much wider road. There's some cars on both sides, but unlike scenario 1, there is a lot of room. All of a sudden some van driver comes bombing along the other side and honks at me. Ironically enough in hindsight, a similar van (same model and colour but can't be certain of the reg) honked at me a mini roundabout a few days ago. He had stopped, I was pulling out onto the roundabout, with no traffic coming on the right, and he pulled out onto the roundabout, nearly hitting me, and then honked me for it.

Is your car clean? Someone hasn’t scraped “Beep at me if you think I’m a ****” on the bonnet have they?

Scenario 1, was this at night? You were most likely driving with your lights switched off.
Scenario 2, there may have been a gap where you could have part-parked while the van driver went past. Some van drivers are conscious about hitting other cars and prefer not squeezing through.

People will honk for stupid reasons. The most common one round here is "you're going to slow", where "too slow" is the 30mph speed limit in a residential area.

There's a road I have to turn into to get home, it's coming off a main road, it's narrow, and it's a tight turn where people park a car length from the end of the road on the left hand side. The road then curves round the left as well, so as you turn into it, you're pretty much forced onto the wrong side of the road, with no visibility due to the parked cars and curve of the road. I've been beeped several times by people right up my **** because I have the audacity to slow down before turning into it, rather than taking the corner at 30 and hoping there's nobody coming the other way XD
