Hi

I would really like to get into airsoft, however cant find any half decent websites for it explaining fully how the game works, places you can go etc... Just how to start.

Also if I went to a center would I need my own rifle or would they supply one?

Thanks

Theres a map here showing every game site in the UK. Theres also a good definition of airsoft and the basics etc here.

Most sites have guns available to hire. If in doubt email them and ask, I'm sure they'll all be happy to help :). Register on ASCUK and UKAN as well, they both have a newbies section :).

Heres a list of some good UK retailers:-

http://www.airsoftarmoury.co.uk/
http://www.airsoftscotland.com/acatalog/index.html
http://www.airsoftsupplier.co.uk/
http://www.fire-support.co.uk/
http://www.wolfarmouries.co.uk/airsoft/bb/gun.asp?page=default
http://www.zerooneairsoft.com/erol/erol.html

Military surplus (for camo and other tactical gear):-

http://www.flecktarn.co.uk/
http://www.sofmilitary.co.uk/

Should keep you going. Need anymore help feel free to ask :).

Replica guns that shoot 6mm plastic pelets by spring or co2... I think.

Seems like an excuse to be a walter mitty in the woods with other walts.

1 strict guideline if you are going to get into airsoft.

DO NOT

I repeat DO NOT !

EVER take the guns out in public!!

armed police do get involved

i did NOT take a replica airsoft gun out in public and got pulled still

long story

IIRC you cant take out in public but can legally have them on your privatley owned property

This may sound like a dumb question (im guessing answer is NO!), but im off to USA at end of next month, can I legally import a Airrifle back into the UK?

Sure.

if you want a bright orange tip and no trademarkings.

You can take them out in public, assuming they're out of sight (in a rifle bag or whatever) and you have reasonable grounds for taking them out. Going to and from a skirmish site, or taking it to a shop to be repaired are all legit reasons.

So, is 'airsoft' the new shooting sport for younger people? I know when I was young my dad taught me how to shoot on a .22LR rifle. I guess the reletively safe airsoft weapons are more appealing to today's generation?

Anyway, I personally just don't see the point in using a fake/replica rifle that is made to look like the real thing yet... isn't. I once wanted to play 'soldiers', so I joined the army. Ho hum.
