Getting into politics

Be very good at getting ahead at the expense of others while convincing them you'r doing the exact oppoesite.

Save your soul and don't. Politics is a one ticket to eternal damnation in the afterlife (assuming you belive it exists). And what makes you think you can deliver when every other government before has failed?

I think it's a fundamental fact of leadership that your decisions are never every man's success. You can't flip a coin and have it land on both sides, much like you can't take a random assortment of humans from various upbringings and mentalities and sing every note right for them. You're always going to be a failure in someone's eyes. You can't win over everyone, and those who you do win over will always find a way to expect more from you.

Perhaps you see our government as a failure for not adhering to the policies you'd like to see in place. Perhaps I see our government as a success for keeping me alive, giving me a place to stay and giving me my right to have my say. It wasn't so many years ago that we solely appreciated our freedom and right to live above all. It's only now that we take this for granted that we begin to demand more. Not that there's anything wrong in that, we should always strive to better ourselves. But I don't think we can truly call our society leadership a 'failure' due to this.

What do you mean exactly by 'giving me my right to have my say'.

I can vote for my government and express myself to my government. I can complain about my government, I can make petitions about my government, I can challenge our law, I can question our decisions and I can doubt my leadership. I don't feel oppressed by my government and I feel that my right to express is noted.

You have to remember that these are some freedoms people don't have internationally. I appreciate them. You may expect them, but at least you're given the right to expect them.

You may expect them, but at least you're given the right to expect them.

I have a intrinsic right to these freedoms not because the government decides to give them.

Express yourself to your government. Tell me has your government ever listened to these expressions?

Student politics is so depressingly straight-laced... a more radical movement would be better than the NUS status quo, but it isn't going to happen.

As has been attributed to Wallace Stanley Sayre "Academic politics is the most vicious and bitter form of politics, because the stakes are so low".

I have a intrinsic right to these freedoms not because the government decides to give them.

So would it be fair to say you believe in natural rights then?

Express yourself to your government. Tell me has your government ever listened to these expressions?

That's slightly different though, the right to speak freely does not imply for a second that you must be listened to. It might be nice for you (anyone) if you are but it is hardly a requirement for free speech.

I've no idea how you'd go about it, but I know I'd make a rubbish politician.
One such reason is that I'm a terrible liar.

E.G

Mrs Wordy "Wordy, did you eat all that cake?!"
Wordy "No" *Twitches*
Mrs Wordy "You did, you flippin liar"
Wordy "I'm not liying" *twitches*
Mrs Wordy "You are liying, I can tell when you're lying your face twitches"
Wordy "I'm not twitching!" *Twitches somemore*

Are you going to stand for the 'I need a new kitchen' party,or the 'I need a new patio' party? :p

You have the right to individual freedom, sure. But you don't have intrinsic rights to a government just because you were born there. I'm talking about the people that gave you the education you have, allowed you shelter in their country, made you a citizen, gave you access to food which you only need walk to a shop for, gave you health care, policed your environment to protect your freedoms and gave order (appreciated or not) to your culture. If you want complete individual freedom then you should go to a deprived country and experience what a non/poorly-governed environment is really like.

'Natural order' does not exist, there is no whimsical land where everyone roams free and does as they please and lives happily ever after as a result. It is nature to create order and leadership, it's the only way to co-exist. You have a right to be your own person and act as you please, however, our countries are all our homes, and the only way to maintain social balance is to create order.

Express yourself to your government. Tell me has your government ever listened to these expressions?

I have expressed myself to my government on many occasions, I have complained, I have voted and I have asked for lawful action to be taken. Every time my needs have been met. This is how I express myself to my government, I ask them to do what they tell me they can do. I may not agree with everything they do, but I agree with a hell of a lot more.

Firstly you need to do whatever the Americans tell you to do.

Secondly, move in with a relative and claim it is your main residence to qualify for extortionate allowances.

Thirdly, get your other half to claim for porno movies and make sure it's claimed back from the taxpayer.

Lastly, employ your family as paper shufflers on £40,000 a year.

that's end game what do you do to get there in the first place :D
