Digimate L1931W 19" Widescreen LCD Flat Panel Monitor

Was only 130 rips and it seems good. however since iv bought my GTX 8800 and im running all my games on full beans im noticing Tears in the screen.

Doesnt tend to do this on the HL source engine however games like FEAR and DOOm give me sort of tears in the screen when i turn and look around..

Monitor supports upto 75Hz at 1024x768 but im running vista at a higher res than that, as that res is HUGE! on this monitor.

Is there any recommended fix that can essentialy force the monitor to display a higher res? im guessing this will reduce the tears as its as if the monitor cant keep up being locked at 60hz...

I dont wanna go OTT and blow the monitor up i just dont have 500 quid to buy a new one that can keep up, just want it to be nice and smooth as my gfx card is doin a crakcin job, yet the monitor isnt doing it justice.

Set native on your desktop, to the frequency your monitor supports
In the game select native
Enable vsync.

No tearing, and best quality picture. You can't output higher than native and scale down, and even if you could it'll look worse.

I dont understand when you say native?

Only options I can see is the windows recoomended. only option for 60Hz, no more, no other options...

Native is the resolution of your panel, ie my Philips 20" is 1680x1050. So in Windows I use 1680x1050. In games I use 1680x1050 as well.

Vsync locks refresh to the LCD panel, no tearing will occur then.
You cannot get a higher refresh than the LCD supports, 60hz is common but some support 75hz.

Below is the spec of the monitor. not sure which res im currently using as im at work but ill check when I get home and try altering it to:

thnx much

What if I was to keep my desktop resolution as it is as im sure its higher than that. I cant stand large desktops (low res) it makes my eyes bleed, and win vista icons are big enough as they are ! if i just set all my games to that native res would that still have the same effect?

Some monitors will let you run higher than native; this N91W will do 1650x1050, but it sure aint pretty

yep all here are correct, no need to question it. run it at its native res, leave it at 60 hz and most importantly for stopping tearing - enable v-sync in your games. if you do all this you'll get the best out of the screen, divert from it and you will not.
