A turbot XE is an LET...Take one from a Calibra Turbot ;)

A 'nice' Chevette/Kadett can be done for a grand...Two gets you a 'very nice' one.

Topi was offered £3.5k for his Kadett a while back but kept it.

Haven driven a 150bhp 2.0 8v Chevette and a 150bhp XE one, I'd actually say I'd rather have the 8v...

...Then turbot it ;)

Probably because I'm quite a lazy driver...And I found the 8v more 'favourable' but still with plenty of shove (pun, y0!) when you floored it. Lower down, the XE felt a bit more wanting...Urging you to rev it some more.

For a daily driver that you can hoon around in at silly speeds, I'd go with a fettled 8v at around 180bhp...For a track day car I'd go with an XE with about 220-230bhp.

Oh and a Piazza Turbo or LSD-shod Manta A axle in either...

I wonder what some of these guys could do with this beauty, I bet the resulting motor would be superb. I'm seriously thinking about trying to track a decent one down sometime in the new year.

Keep an eye on ebay, RR, Turbosport, enthusiast sites and so on...

What kind of budget do you have?

If you don't mind LHD, ebay.de has some AWESOME Kadetts up regularly... Already sorted 250bhp XEs and sorted suspension...For 3-5 grand? Hells yes.

You can get all-carbon panels for the kadett saloon and coupe from the berg cup racers...Nomnomnom.

Want something i can mod myself... with the Zetec'd Fiesta nearly done.. fancy something to takes it place.. A standard one would be best :)

Get in there quickly. A lot of people are slowly realising how gash Escorts are in comparison and they're starting to appreciate even more... I've seen untaxed, untested shonky shuvs go for £300 lately.

£500 should get a decent base. £800 a really nice base.

Unless you're after a Kadett Coupe...Then you can add £500 to each of those prices.
