Hi

Here is a rundown of my PC . . .

Pentium 955 with 1066 FSB + 2Gb Corsair PC8500 + ASUS P5WD2e Premium + 2 x 150Gb Raptors

I am trying my best to get the RAM to work at its stated 1066Mhz matching the FSB but I can only get it to go to 890Mhz which is one down from the 1066Mhz quoted in the BIOS.

When I select 1066Mhz and reboot - it really doesnt like it - in fact I have tried it twice now and it wont even reboot!

What am I doing wrong - if I need to increase the RAM voltage please can someone let me know what level is safe etc etc

Cheers!

ok . . .

I tried 2.2 - but it just wont boot up - so I went a little higher and at 2.35 it boots - but after a little while it reboots on its own!

What else should I be looking at please?

whats your timmings on the ram bud, if they are to low then it can cause problems at the higher frequencies.

Also you might want to try changing the 1T command rate to 2T. The motherboard may only support 1066Mhz memory at 2T command rate.

I am an IT dummy . . .

please can you explain a little bit further - timings, 1T 2T etc so that I can adjust the BIOS as you have suggested!!!

Cheers

Just had a thought, that board doesn't support 1066Mhz memory, in fact I don't think any do. The only way to get the memory to run 1066 would be to run a dividier then overclock the CPU until the memory speed hit 1066Mhz.

errrr actually - the board DOES . . .

support the mem speed - its in the BIOS - it runs perfect @ 890MHz - just need to get some stability @ 1066Mhz.

come on guys - any good ideas???

Well then its either the chipset can't take it (up *** chipset voltage), or the mem doesn't like the speed, either too lower voltage or too tight timings or 1T command rate.

Try 5-4-4-12 @ 2.3V and see what happens
