Eltax speakers pretty cheap TBH. Not that they are bad, just cheap. However, going from what one could call proper speakers to PC speakers, a downgrade in quality is likely, depending on what you go for. It's hard to say how much, given that the Eltax's are cheap for floor standing speakers, and to be fair, some PC speakers are much better than others.

I'd certainly avoid the Logitech speakers. Fine for people who have no clue what mid range is, and think bass is the be all and end all of sound. I'd avoid the Samsung's too. Audio is not their strong point, and the lack of comments and reviews is not good either. The Hercules speakers look rubbish, so I'd avoid them as well.

I'd be looking at the M-Audio AV40's, and the Altec Lansing speakers. Problem with the AV40's, although they are very good speakers, they will have less bass. I would expect the AV40's to sound better than the Altec speakers though.

Thank you very much :)

I am not after much bass anyways as it will wake up my son in the night and i always end up turning the base down most of the time.

Been reading up a lot on logitech vs the AV40 and other had siad the same about logitech with good base but not so good with normal sound.

Cheers.

I have seen some more speakers they cost abit more not sure if they are worth extra

Altec Lansing's 200W Expressionist Ultra MX6021 are they better then the Pinnacle M-Audio Studiophile AV40?

What you think ?

Also merry xmas to everyone :D

The Altec MX6021's look pretty decent, got some positive reviews, but they are expensive. As for the Panasonic stereo, well who can say without any reviews.

Merry Christmas to you too. :)

Thanks :)

Yeah having trouble finding reviews for the Panasonic :(

Can up the my limit to £300 now :D

So i am stuck from picking from 2 i have seen

Panasonic 600 Watt CD Mini Hi-Fi System SC-AKX50

And

Sony CD Mini Hi-Fi System with iPod Dock MHCGTZ31

Both about same price i am aiming more to the sony but maybe cause it has a proper subwoofer and other does not.

But most of all after better sound quality not so much bass :)

Cheers.

Yeah can only buy from one site as my sister got credit on there and offerd to help me out as a sort of xmas extra gift lol

I wish i had the cash to buy anywhere but atm be better for me to pay off each month.

The budget went up to £300 and i went for the Panasonic - SC-AKX50 - Hi Fi

It was that or the sony Mini Hi-Fi MHCGTZ31 so i hope i made the right choice now.

Thanks.

Oh the order not sent out yet so any last minute comments about the Panasonic - SC-AKX50 if anyone knows anything good or bad about it let me know please thanks :)

Well TBH, even though both stereo's are off the shelf consumer types, ie, not as good as separates. Both should be significantly better than most 2.1 PC speakers. The AE Aego M's are great 2.1 speakers, but as they are not available on this site, they never entered the equation.

I can't say you made a wrong decision, as without comparing comments, who can say. I'll be interested to see what you think of it, compared to your Eltax setup. I'd expect the Eltax's to be the better sounding, but it's possible anything on this site that you had to choose from was probably going to not sound as good. However I haven't heard them, or any Eltax speakers, so I can't say.

What made you choose the Panasonic, given it had no comments?

Thanks Marsman :)

I went for the Panasonic in the end as its bit smaller without the subwoofer.

I am sort of thinking now i made a mistake in ordering anything from that site and maybe buy cheap speakers for now (£30 max) and save up and get some proper good ones.

Order canceled :) going to buy cheap now but be worth it later on the year i can put £300 cash down on what ever the best :D

Right need some £30 speakers :)

Didn't you want to get rid of the amp as well, or are you still going to do that, but are looking to buy active speakers, rather than passive ones?

Yeah the amp and the old speakers are going they to big and with my son at that age of eating and pulling wires i can't have anything on the floor or in reach

So for now as i not doing the credit option i just need cheap 2.0 or 2.1 to do me for now :)

I was thinking Creative T10 Inspire or maybe Logitech X-210 Speakers

Thanks.

I wanted rid of my own little stereo sysem I had hooked up to my computer mainly because it's in the way, also had about £30 to spend on some cheap 2.1 speakers and after a quick browse about I found some good reviews for Logitech X-210 2.1 speakers for £23 on a well known auction site. Although has to be said, the weaker points to those were no bass control directly only via the software of your soundcard, and possibly not much mid range although it seems every review I read of them is positive, and of surprise they were so good for the money. Then again, I haven't received mine yet, so can't directly comment. :)

Yeah, I'd grab either TBH, which ever appeals to you more. When spending such a small amount, you can't really worry which will sound better.

Yeah true :)

I seen the Logitech Z323 for £30 might go for them they look nice :D

I went for the Logitech Z323 in the end :)

Thanks all sorry for all the messing about changing my mind :)
