Getting no POST

fight might spin because the card won't produce video signal but there is power running through it so the fan gets powered.
your 4870 should still work without external power, at least it should go into windows in a sort of "limp mode". try testing the ram memory at another computer?

Thats weird then... But why no POST when it's plugged in?

And it doesn't, when the 4870 is in I get a graphics card error POST. And I know the RAM works, because it always has
 
With any gfx card & especially the 4870 you will need way more than a 400w psu even with the supposedly supplied molex connectors.

The old gfx card is most likely broken as it it refuses to beep/post when in the pc thats a good indicator. Its just a shame you dont have any of the allegedly supplied molex connectors to at least test the pc out with teh new card. As for the old card sometimes there is no damage to it, it can just die one day without warning all it takes is one of teh caps to go that regulates power.

My 4870 was supplied with 2 molex adaptors so I was lucky I guess.

yea, i know. And yea my old psu sucks, i'm going to die waiting for my psu to be returned from rma. It wont even get to ocuk until wednesday, so thats a major annoyance.
