what a mad 2 weeks
2 weeks ago I pulled a muscle in my left shoulder/neck.
booked in physio for Friday just gone however before I got to it I managed to tweak my lower back weeding (probably because of crap posture due to my neck)
I had the physio on my shoulder and a bit of work on my back whilst at it and it was feeling a lot better so chanced a game of pickelball today and now have pulled my calf muscle and can't walk . felt a horrible pop . I just hope it's a minor class one and not a full tear.

I know they say things come in 3s but this takes the pee!.

sorry not sure why posting. just need to vent., am fed up!

Feel your pain. In the same boat. Seems very easy to get injured and takes more time to recover as life gets on. Off my regular exercise regime as I keep tweaking my shoulder or catching a simple cold.

You may learn that you’re missing something in your diet that’s causing issues like that.. it’s not that normal to pull 3 muscles in a short period of time unless you’re fighting grizzly bears for a living.

lol I wish. am 49
I'm not far behind you and am constantly aching, but that's my own stupid fault for trying to be as active as a 20 something year old!

Hope your calf isn't too serious. I have tight calf muscles too and they cramp up a lot.

One thing I can recommend although it's dull is doing some mobility work every day. 10-15mins at least once a day, twice (morning and evening if possible). When I get into a good routine things are far better, but it's also easy to forget or ignore to do!

Long live middle age!

Do some callisthenics 2-3 times a week, it's completely free and very simple. 30 mins each time.

I'm in my 40s but consistently being active using all those joints throughout the week makes all the difference.

posted on calf muscle tear woes in the running thread - retail therapy of finding some new running trainers during the 2 week lay-off helped.

... but, more widely, this is all part of the broken britain zeitgeist - things are breaking at younger ages.

Surely not with all the vegan, low alcohol fads, oh wait.

That's pretty hot.

Lifting weights (don't need to be a bodybuilder or try go super heavy buy some dumbells) and stretching my man, i'm late 30's and I myself i've fallen off the wagon again the last year and bit, aches come back and I tweaked my back bending over car.

3-6 hours a week of that and typically my pains improve.

Funny seeing this thread because the other day I was thinking I have to start taking this stuff seriously again so I can age as best as I can.

This is why I don't want to do FIRE and retire early. I want to live and do stuff while I physically can. I'm 39 and I think I'm doing fairly well (especially considering the health of many people I know younger than me). But it'll catch up eventually
