Basically, keeping it short and sweet;

Built my first PC back in November, I love it.
There's a few things on my old, huge 320GB HDD which I want off it - certain memories etc. (Note: Had 2x 320GB's but 1 has failed, don't know which one, though shouldn't matter, should it?)

By old I mean it had the old ribbon cables - don't know what they're called - so don't know how I'd rig it to my current PC to get the data off and don't fancy paying someone silly money to do what I'd imagine being a simple job.

I've also gotten rid of the old PC a long time ago as it continuously BSOD'd (I believe 1 of my SLI'd cards was causing it).

Thanks in advance :)

EDIT: Also, sorry if this is in the wrong thread category, just I know it's more likely to get responses in here and it is a general query I guess.

If your current PC does not have a IDE socket on the motherboard (sounds like your 320gb is an IDE drive) then you either need to get a USB to IDE adaptor or a PCI IDE card for your PC. You can then connect the drive to your current PC.

One other thing would be if you have a friend with a PC that still has an IDE capable motherboard and connect it that way and copy off to a USB stick

Awesome, thanks for the input man - I believe those are what I need - the adaptor or card would be the apparent resolution for me :)

other option is to get a external enclosure that supports IDE Drives (if they still do them), I have one that can do IDE or sata drives and then connects to your PC using a USB cable.
