Getting old, I guess.

IM 54 now and was very competitve back in the day playing Day Of Defeat in the main EU league but im nowhere near that level at fps games anymore.
I still play though and hold my own in BF games and Delta Force at the moment, i also play arma reforger,Hell Let Loose and Squad 44 for a more tactical slower pace experience and again i hold my own here.

Other than that i really enjoy PVE games like Helldivers 2,Deep Rock galactic, Space Marine 2 , Darktide ,Vermintide 2 etc etc.

You can only watch the same movie or variation of it so mainly times without becoming jaded and although choice has increased, it seems to just mean there is so much more 7 out of 10 filler around.

It's telling that thinking about what you wrote above I immediately thought of the likes of NOLF, Fear and Bad Company. Some of which are over 20 years old,

Ah, NOLF 1&2 were fantastic :D

I have Doom & Eternal, supposed to be pretty good so I suppose I should give them a go... But just not feeling it.

Mostly playing survival/crafter and factory games on a private server with a couple of mates these days, much more sedate pace, a bit more cerebral, and nice to socialise with people I don't see anywhere near as often as I'd like to

Be 49 this year, last 5 or so i really felt worse at games, or perhaps everyone else got better!
I'm 52, and look cooperative rather than competitive shooters. At the moment, I'm playing Tiny Tina's Wonderlands with my 16 year old son. I know my reactions aren't what they used to be.

Like with needing the best graphics card to run things at the ultra levels - my eyes don't see much of a difference these days, so I'm still on a 3070ti and it's good enough for me. :-)

Play games where attacking from stealth and choosing how/when to attack enemies is a core part of the game mechanics.

I remember BL2 having sniper and space ninja assassin characters that allowed all sorts of attack options.

I was rubbish at online MP shooters 20 years ago when I still had reflexes as I never had the time to unlock the meta guns and “get good”. I was basically free XP for anyone else.

The only MP games I was remotely useful at were team games like BF2 Project Reality mod and Arma 2/3 with a clan. Raising a family and regular international travel for work meant I was rarely available for matches and I had to give it up and focus on SP games that I could just drop into for an hour here and there.

I used to be so good at things like COD. I'd play online and crush, normally coming 1st, 2nd, or third every time but something happened a while ago and I just couldn't keep up anymore. This was in my 30's, I don't play online games anymore. 46 now, my back hurts if I try a 360 no scope

Mate... I'm 36.
I find myself falling asleep past 9PM when trying to play any sort of video game.

It's incredibly frustrating as my go to game at the moment is POE2... and when i die i loose 10% exp lol

I'm in bed at 9pm every day, even the holiday I just went on. Love it ;)

I’m 44 and for some reason I always thought everyone on here was much younger than me. It’s good to know I’m not alone haha.

I can’t play games like doom etc anymore, they make me feel sick instantly.

I also find myself looking through my steam library trying to find some motivation to play something, more than actually…..playing something.

Same boat as most others on here, I guess that's why i liked Stalker 2 so much, single player, and other than the boss fights, can play at your own pace pretty much.

Is tarkov PvE similar ? (although I find it hard to get on with games where you lose all your kit if you get killed).

Haha, i said this to someone the other day when they asked if i was thinking about a new video card. I just turn the quality down and I dont think I can see much of a difference either

Isn't Tarkov just a hackerfest now?

Checkout Helldivers 2. It's PVE, you vs the AI, and more about the insanity that ensues.

It's still a shooter, but the fact its PvE keeps away the worst of the toxic elements, and the entire game style is more about having fun and experiencing cinematic moments; with a dose of Starship Troopers, Terminator and the likes thrown in.
I absolutely echo that recommendation. also I would say push yourself on the difficulty as you unlock more gear. the higher the level the more insane it is which means more stupid deaths and comedy value

as for borderlands. it's easy to get by in that game just level up a bit more if you are finding things tough. gear also makes a massive difference . a legendary weapon with a good extra like corrosive makes all the difference against armoured and something with electricity destroys shields quickly

I am 49 and not great at fpsers but have completed BL 1, 2 and 3 as well as pre sequel. I also have tiny Tina but to be honest I am borderlands out at the moment and don't fancy it

I'm 74 and although my reflexes have slowed down I still play shooters and simulations - I'm currently on Stalker 2 and have been playing Elite Dangerous for 10 years now.

There's nothing to fear getting old when it comes to playing online although I avoid most of the more toxic teens you meet in some FPS.

I have lots of games in my Steam library to play before I die and I think gaming keeps me sane.
