I was wondering if anyone knew whether we got paid our backlog of EMA if we haven't been receiving it?

I found out recently that I'm entitled to £30 per week EMA and haven't been getting any, and I have 100% attendance. My instincts told me that I don't get it, but one of my friends told me I did then another friend said I didn't and then another friend said I did.. So I have no idea. :( But I've missed £500+ of EMA which could have come in really handy. :(

Does anyone know whether I will?

I haven't filled out any forms or anything as I didn't think I was entitled to it.. Now I find out I am. :o

thats a bit of a bummer! My school made sure we all knew about it. My brother missed out on his for 2 years as he wasnt aware it existed!

Sometimes i dont get ema for a few weeks, and then get a small lump sum totalling all i am owed. Im sure your entitled to some, and if your lucky enough, all of it.

Well it would really come in useful. :(

We live out in the middle of nowhere trying to get our farm to make some money, and this would be my lunch money and would pay for some petrol for riding to various places. Would come in more handy for me than most others.

If you were liable you wouldnt be complaining.

Please dont turn this into a flame thread about EMA there are loads, if you fancy posting your opinion, post it there.

Well in your situation i agree with it as it would help.

Its other situations where there are people at college driving around in there own cars going out every other night etc etc and on £30 a week ema

theres a cut off point for receiving back dated payments, around 2 months after the beginning of the college year, so no, no backlog, although you can still begin to claim as of now ;)

it gets slated on this forum

i know allot of kids who wouldnt of been able to go to college without it and have now got decent jobs and are doing well

theres obviously people who dont need it getting it but not as many as ppl think

you cant get it if the combined income of your parents is over so much so it usually does go to kids whos familys need it rather than kids with there own car and drug dealing buisness

They probably spend the EMA on petrol.

Sounds like someones bitter.

Aye, bitter as they can't recieve it tbh. As for backlogs, well you won't get your full £500 back. It's usually like a period of 6 weeks they can do it. And you probably wont get the bonus that literally just went.
But the fact that you haven't even applied for it may give them reason not to give you a backlog.
