Anyone got anymore info on what the Avaya PBX Gear does out of interest?
PBX (Private Branch eXchange) is a localised telephone switching point, typically allowing you to have multiple internal extensions routing internal calls without leaving the confines of the PBX. Then external calls are either routed out over PSTN breakout, or more typically ISDN.
