Getting rid of Sky - Best to get a Roku + NowTV or a Now TV stick?

isn't the shield ancient now and a new model should be released soon? therefore this old one won't be supported properly for much longer
As far I know they have no plans to release a new one.
At least they have not said anything.
It's still the most powerful android box on the market.

An announcement would be expected this month if they are releasing one in 2019 (based of previous releases)

I have a LG smart TV but the Apps are no longer updated.

I switched to a NowTV box, and while it works fine, (I bought it for GOT mainly) I think the interface is a bit disjointed.

Anyone using a Roku that has a USB port for a hard drive. I think thats what I'll switch to eventually.

they made me a new offer .. up from 2.66 offer for last 3 months ... just about worth it for their limited content.
(maybe their offers consider how much content you have watched ... have only seen twd & billions over last months)
EDIT ... it's a pity tidal don't make similar offers if you cancel afaihs

I think the interface is a bit disjointed.
the new nowtv stick should be much faster, as this will have jumped to the newer roku generation, no longer a ~2015/2016 roku

As far I know they have no plans to release a new one.
from earlier threads, if you are ready to pay shield money I would spend £50 more and get a win10 gemini lake mini-pc ... a cheap NUC
(are nucs now discontinued anyway)

For me I would never pay the money for a shield, I'd pickup a cheap S905x or S912 box with 3GB ram and customise it as I see fit :p. Depends if you care about Netflix.

But if its just Now TV/Netflix that you care about and you want no additional functionality, then the sticks are perfectly fine and the cheapest option out there.
