Getting rid of tailgaters?

Im fairly new to the roads, and this seems a pretty common and annoying thing, especially at night. Whats the best trick to pull to make them pull back? Got fed up tonight and flashed my brake lights (not enough to slow car, jsut to turn lights on) and he then backed off.

Bar speeding up whats the easiset way to get rid of these planks?

Indicate, stop. You can do that on most roads.

If you haven't got the power and/or experience to safely make a gap yourself, or he just keeps on coming, I would advise that you find a way to let the muppet past tbh. Safer for you to have people like that well in front of you than behind you. I only brake test tailgaters etc if I know I can get away with it safely and not not affect others behind the tailgater or simply put my foot down, foot down normally wins tbh

But the only keyboard i carry is attatched to my laptop, and thats not a cheap bit of kit

or simply put my foot down, foot down normally wins tbh

Flash your brake lights for a second to see if they back off, failing that go slowly and just let them past*.

*or drop 2 gears and floor it
