Getting S9600 next Sunday

ah ok I see, so if I don't have a bulb mode I'll just save the cash for something else not a release remote thingy.

So how does the UV filter only effect the sky/water?

£20 seems like a lot for something that could be done a on a computer.
 
Water (to a certain extent), scratches, dust, impact... what do you think?

If you slip and hit the front element on something your camera is screwed, if you slip and hit a filter you have a much better chance of the camera surviving.

There are some benefits other than that, good ones can reduce glare and haze but may also require 1-2 stop longer exposures.
Bad ones will degrade image quality and aren't worth having.

Won't the lens cap do most of that?
 
You can just put the lens cap on top usually. I used to have a fuji 6500, which is a couple of steps down, and that was a brilliant camera, you should be able to get some really nice shots with the 9600.
 
So I've already getting the Camera and a 2GB card. I'm going to get a DCR250 and a UV filter. I could do with a case, that could hold all of this stuff aswell.
