i've just landed a new job, accepted the verbal offer and am waiting on the contract being posted. i will need to go through security clearance as the company develops military systems.

i was wondering if anyone could tell me what this involves.
my HR contact has gone on his hols now, but i'm all excited about the new job and keen to find out what's what.

it's SC level clearance i will need to pass.

Security Check (SC, takes minimum six weeks on average)

yeah, they told me the SC could take 4 weeks or so, but said as i'm available right away, they may be able to do a quick BC in a couple of weeks and get me in early while they process the SC through.

maybe that'll cover me to make the tea but not do any real work for the first few weeks :)

do you know what the process is then? is it just a lot of form filling, or is their like some interview scenario?

whoops, mised your link, cheers, that just about explains it.

I work in IT for the government and it took around 4 months for the clearance to come through.

woah, do they have like only one person in the whole country doing the checks?

i can understand it takes a while, but 4 months is a long time!
