ive just built a new i7 sandybridge 2600k based system.

i have a Gbyte GA-HA65M-UD3H-B3 H61 B3 board presently and i cant for the life of me get it to boot with 4 sticks of ddr3. tried 2 different lots etc, neither GByte or Corsair seem to know what memory is compatible with this board.

anyway looking to replace the board with an Asus P8P67-M PRO, to go with the 4x 4Gb Corsair Vengeance DDR3.

good move?

it doesnt appear on their list, however to quote Corsair on the Vengeance "CML16GX3M4A1600C9 as these modules are made for and tested on Intel Sandy Bridge chipsets".

has anyone used them together with sucess?

That processor is wasted in that motherboard anyway.

Very limited overclocking.

You want low profile RAM if you have, or are getting, a big CPU cooler.

If you use the onboard GPU you want a Z68 motherboard which supports it (some Gigabyte boards don't).

Edit.

I see you already have the RAM.

yup. although wasnt initially interested in clocking it may be something i look at later. just fed up with not being able to run the amount of RAM i want to.

yup, hence the vengeance.

no onboard required, got a PCI-E card.

cheers

In answer to your original query I assume you boot OK with 2 sticks?

Try upping the RAM voltage in the BIOS a touch before trying again with 4 sticks.

Yeah boots fine with sticks in 1 and 3 or 2 and 4. Gigabyte are as much use as a fart in a space suit.

Pretty blanket statement... You got a cheap board, and expected it to run a high end CPU and 4 DIMMS well?

You get what you pay for, and you paid for a £70 board.

id expect them to know what memory is compatible in their own board rather than just saying "ask corsair".

That's a bit unrealistic.

Motherboard manufacturers can't possibly test every possible type of RAM available, in every combination, with every motherboard.
