Getting the most out of a rubbish karoo connection

Well guys it appears I have abit of a problem lol.

I'm on karoo as I live in Hull so have a kingston telecommunications line (aka cannot get a BT line so karoo is the only ISP i can get for broadband)

My problem is my connection speed is pants! I'm currently on the 8mb package and my modem router is plugged directly into the main socket downstairs but im only connecting at 3.6mb :S Before we got sky hd it would connect at 6/7mb without fail when plugged directly into the master socket!

Now I've got microfilters on everything I should have (aka the telephone and the sky hd box) but im still connecting at a rubbish rate.

How is the Sky box connected to the phone line? An existing phone socket, a new socket or an extension cord?

existing. I've tried disconnecting it but it looks like karoo are basing my internet connection speed around 12db line noise. I'm on an ADSL service at the moment but would going to ADSL 2+ service (using karoo still sigh) get rid of this db "cap" and increase the line speed at all?
 
What are your line stats as reported by your router with the Sky box connected, and again with it disconnected? (Reset the router in between each test).
 
Sounds like they've switched you to a lower profile, probably for stability reasons, though they do seem to enjoy doing it randomly to me! (usually fixed within a few hours of sending them an e-mail).

yeah that appears to be the case sadly

So how did you arrive at this conclusion:

I'd be shocked if your modem reconnected at exactly the same speed, attenuation and SNR margin, provided you're on a rate adaptive service.

it did, i rang karoo up and my line has been capped to give me a more stable connection so im hitting the max I can get on the ADSL service in my area.
 
But if the Sky box affected your line then your line noise would change, even if the sync didn't. Just post the stats. If everything's identical then it's nothing to do with the Sky box.
