Hi basically i own this a gigabyte 970A-D3 AMD 970A http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-409-GI and it has an AMD FX 8350 in it (full specs in signature 2nd build) i had been freezing every so often and i don't know why.
i have changed the ram same ram but different sticks
i have changed graphics card
i have reinstalled windows
i have changed hard drives

currently i have just changed the ram voltages as they were only 1.55 and in my intel it has the voltages at 1.65 so i changed those, no freeze but the freezes are random.

One thing i did notice is that the bios revision is f7 and according to the cpu support list http://www.gigabyte.com/support-downloads/cpu-support-popup.aspx?pid=3908

1. My 8350 isn't supported
2. it requires f11

would this be causing my freezes the fact that the bios isn't the right version to support the 8350 or could it just be down to the ram being a lower voltage although otherwise i am stumped i can't think of what the issue could be

will try the new bios tomorrow but i just ran prime95 there for all of 2 minutes and it froze, also hw monitor was unable to tell me core temperatures only the package temperature of the cpu weird...i remember it showing the temperature core by core

i've done a bit more reading and ...it seems if my motherboard is rev 1.0 or 1.1 then it will not support an 8350...but if it doesnt support an 8350 would it not be blue screening and generally not working at all other than just freezing every so often

update i did a bios update surprising it worked first time no errors and so booted up and set the ram voltage to the same as on the intel build 1.65v and booted into windows it is currently running prime95 for maximum heat testing and has currently lasted about 20 mins, will leave it on for the rest of today and unless it freezes the update should have fixed the problem

otherwise if it freezes again i may have to contact gigabyte and beg for a rev 3.0 version of the motherboard as mine is only rev 1.1 which isn't meant to support an 8350
