I need to get into and out of London (to the O2) one Friday evening coming up, and I was thinking of driving up to the edge of London, parking up and then getting the Tube into London and across to the O2. I will be coming from Southampton so up the M3.

Any suggestions on where to go to be able to both park the car for a day and get the tube into London easily (i.e. an outer London Tube station with a long stay carpark :)).

Cheers

The train is quicker, but not cheaper, and the last train that gets us back here means leaving the O2 by about 10pm, which is cutting it tight for a show starting at 8pm.

Lol, thanks Vanilla! But its not for a few weeks yet.

A mate has suggested Richmond. Just 1 change from the District to the Jubilee at Westminster.

Getting the tube back from the O2 means I have to leave at about midnight to be able to not miss the last connecting trains to anywhere else.

Agreed it might be cheaper to drive.

Last train is 5 past midnight (this Friday) so you would actually have from at least 11pm surely?

Last train is 23:05. The 5 past midnight one takes 6 hours!

Edit: hmm, not to Central... There are actually better trains to Central...

Whats it like driving into the O2? Is it going to be busy and bung an extra couple of hours on the drive?

Having looked at trains to Eastleigh though, I can get trains from Waterloo any time up to just gone midnight, which is a lot better than I thought, so I might just do that. Going to be over £60 for 2 to get the train though.

Cheers, I'll have a look at that. I need to decide if were going to spend any time in London before going to the O2 first.

If you travel by tube, it will also be very packed. You may not be able to get onto the first or even second train that arrives on the platform. So just bear that in mind when you plan your return journey.

That is a good point I hadn't thought about, cheers.
