Hey guys, I've now made the transfer over to PC gaming as consoles do my head in. What's the easiest way to get used to using a keyboard? I'm finding that I'm searching for keys mid game, is it basically keep trying ad get used to it on my own or is there some kind of method?

Thanks.

PS. I don't have anyone in my friends list on steam yet so feel free to add me. Would be nice to not just play randomers all the time. Steam ID is - l33th3tr33.

just have patients it will come to you.

took longer for me i can only use 1 thumb on my left had for wasd and any other buttons... it will come in time

What games are you playing? I barely played PC games for ages and went from playing BF3 on xbox to playing Counterstrike on PC, that was a shock to the system.

Just keep at it, you'll get there.

I had a feeling it would be a case of practice makes perfect. Does anyone use a keyboard for driving games? I use an xbox controller as using keys just aren't precise enough.

Thanks guys.

I've got BF3, crysis 3, bioshock Infinite, dirt 2 & 3, grid, trials evo and just got DOTA 2.

If you use a controller to play an FPS then there is something wrong with you, lol!

Practice typing. Once you learn where every key on the left-hand side of your keyboard is, without having to look, then you have mastered it :)

Doesn't matter what control method i use, i'll still get plenty of kills. When you've played games every day for over 2 decades like i have you don't need handicaps such as the K & M.:D

I typed "The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog" from an early age, therefore learning where most letters are on the keyboard without looking, it also means I type incredibly fast. It takes practice for you to know what keys work for you in what games etc.

tl;dr It takes time and patience, it'll all come in time. If you want to learn where the keys are more, try typing "The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog" 100 odd times in Notepad.

I have added also anyone can add me my steam id is Cool Hand Luke.

For years when I first started playing games on a PC I use to use the 4 arrows keys for movement in FPS..

Been using arrow keys since I started FPS gaming in 1999, using them at LANs and online tournaments, etc. Some of the best oldschool players use crap like mouse2 = forward or hjkl.

@OP use what you want. Practice makes perfect. WASD is more standard though.

I do feel more natural using wasd, so I'll stick to them. It's just reaching for keys that aren't close to those that get to me, and remembering what each one does!
I'll try the typing, I do need to get my typing up to speed, I've got better over time but learning where absolutely everything is would help a hell of a lot!

I've accepted any requests too, feel free to give me a shout for any games we have in common, even if I'm not playing them I'd much rather play online in a group than SP.

i find it easier as you use it more.

driving games are surprisingly easy with a keyboard (well i think so)

i also use a 360 controller sometimes

(added you on steam)

same was to me, but when first tired xbox controller with 3rd ps and FPS, however after practice now playing some fps games with controller.

(added on steam.)

360 controller on everything for me!

When I was younger I used to play everything with the keyboard, but I took a long time off pc gaming, started "playing" with cars and bikes, but now I'm back and I just can't get the hang of it again so went for a 360 wireless controller, at first using butchered xbox bits, then with the proper adapter.
