" GF 8800 GT NOT Backward Compatible in Previous Mac Pro"

I don't understand, doesn't it just mean you can't put a 8800 GT in the older revision of Mac Pros? Why would that be a problem?

Ive ordered a New Macpro, with a 880GT card, from what ive seen in that link, im not bothered, ive no intention to pull the 8800 out and stick it in my Old Macpro. My only problem will be the RAM, i need Crucial to pull there finger out and start manufacturing the new 800mhz FBDimms, im not paying Apple prices and my old stuff isnt compatible...:(

Well if people wanted the better graphics card in their old Mac Pro then they are now "forced" (yes yes, I know no one's putting a gun to their head) to buy a new Mac Pro.

Good for Apple, bad for existing Mac Pro owners.

 What did you do with the other Mac Pro?

So much for an expandable system. If I can take an 8800GT and shove it in a cheap Dell from two years ago there's no excuse for Apple shafting people who spent nearly £2000 on a computer.

Because people who need more video power but are perfectly happy with their current (very expensive) system otherwise can't upgrade now? Yes they can sell the machine and buy a new one but at that point you might as well have just bought an iMac.
