gfx card to run supreme commander in dualscreen

Basicly I own 2 screens, playing supreme commander with the specs in sig, the game runs smoother with graphics maxed out in 1 screen than on lowest gfx settings with 2 screens.

So wich card would run the game in dualscreen mode, 2x 1280x1024 ( this means a combines reso of 2560x1024 ) on medium-low settings with 30+FPS at all times? I'm trying to pay as least as possible....

PCI-E btw

8800GTX can do it, been playing it with 2 monitors... 1920*1200 + 1280*1024 and its quite playable maxed with 4xAA. BUT, if your on a budget go for the 8800GTS and overclock it a bit..

R600 or the next ati if it's not called that.
At the risk of some marauding enraged 8800 gtx
owners lynching me i'd like to say that the 8800 gtx just
doesn't cut it when it comes to supreme commander.
No card cuts it at the moment lol 1 gig card anyone?

Basicly trying to pay as least as possible, can't i go a bit lower as 7900/1900 series, also is VRAM important for such resolution, i mean should i make 512 mb ram a priority?

Dont need anything fancy to brag about, i just want smooth gaming in supreme commander in dualscreen with rest of graphics settings on lowest...

Try using 800x600 res for both screens. So its 1600x1200 combined.

But if you want new card just get a x19xx series card or somit. There cheap and powerful enough.

Think ya got it wrong there 8800GTX cuts it ........dire FPS comes from nearly all CPU's not being powerful enough to run it with 100's units on the go (SC was apparently written with up to 16 core CPU's in mind for the future).........know your game engines good sir ;) :p

Try it, iv ran it with low res's and high res's after the same amount of time it runs more or less at the same speed........

geff was saying the same rubbish to me earlier in a different thread.

My 8800 GTS 320MB card works PERFECTLY on dual 20" widescreen monitors (obviously 1680x1050). I have no problems. Running 2GB of ram and a Conroe @ 3300MHZ.

Everything maxed, I have no idea of FPS, but it feels perfectly smooth to me.

100's of units, i think you guys misunderstand, i have this lag from start of the game from the moment i have just 1 unit, the fps hardly decrease during the game ( the game felt equally slow in dualscreen through the whole game)

a 8800GTX would run this game silky smooth imo...
Any guys using dualmon here with perhaps a 7800 series card ( trying to go as cheap as possible) ?

well yeh exactly, the graphics are easy enough for modern graphics cards...........the slow down is CPU........you have pretty fast cpu there so your prob ok, wait until 5000unit cap and larger maps thought, ull be wanting a 4/8 core cpu then ;)

Using a pentium 4 yes? thats why ;)

EDIT: and a 6 series ? thats also why ! basically ANYthing upwards of 1900XT and your fine........the graphics is then not really a bottleneck, the cpu is...........im not saying a voodoo 1 will run it, but 8800 will NOT bottleneck it, not at least until MASSIVE amounts of things are going on ....but then its still the CPU that will slow it as all projectiles for everything are calculated individually

The game is smooth maxed out on a SINGLE screen as i said in my original post, i've been playing liek 10 games by now has hundreds of units in singlescreen mdoe and then it was smooth.

i run a 7800GTX on a singlle 1280x1024 screen and i am getting slowdown on mine with everything at high. most of that is down to my cpu though which is a lowly D 820.

you can pick the 8800GTS up for under 200 notes though so its a bargain when you look at the cost of the last generation cards.

Hrmpf i only have money for 1 thing, what would you guys do, a core 2 duo e6300 in there+ good board like p5b/ds3/p5n-e ( wich will be massivly over my budget) or somewhere near a 1900xt/1950 pro as a new gfx card???

I find the game is far more cpu dependant than gpu.
My server can run the game ok on a Radeon 9600xt because the of the CPU grunt and 2gig of ram.
