gfx card to run supreme commander in dualscreen

Running my two monitors in 1280x1024 (85hz and 60hz) with my x1950Pro with details either set to min or high and it runs great =D No slow downs what so ever.

Aye it's not slowed down for me yet either. ;)

Did get a BSOD once though. :(

In most reviews I have read, it does seem to be CPU bound. Later today I plan on doing a few quick tests, running the game in Dual Mode, and then Single display, to see how much (if any) smoother the game actually is.

I will also play around with different resolutions too.

I am guessing that with one display the CPU makes massive differences, and a "low-medium" GPU is more than enough, with 2 displays though, in theory it is putting the GPU thru double the work.

CPU is definately far more important for SC. I used a 7300GT on medium details and it was fine for 1v1 but as more units appear a machine really feels the pressure (or more AI players etc).

A game like this is massively CPU bound taking care of all units, orders etc. Graphics wise it's a doddle for GPUs.

The issue the OP has is probably purely down to the fact that he's running a 3d app over dual card outputs.

I am not sure if this anyone but:

2x 1680x1050 = 43FPS roughly. Single display is about 80 FPS.

That is an 8800 GTS at 660/2040, 2gb of ram, Conroe @ 3300mhz.
